For almost 3 weeks I had been having contractions on and off just not strong enough or that would get going. I went to my appt on March 22 and found out that I was 5cm dilated and 90% effaced. We thought that I wasn’t going to make it through the weekend. The funny thing was I didn’t contract at all, all weekend. This girl just wasn’t going to come out. So Monday she wasn’t here yet and I thought it would be a great time to shampoo the carpets and couches. Well I started around 3 and got really tired so when Carl came home he helped me out. Around 5 I had my first contraction. Thinking it wasn’t going to do anything we keep going. It was around 7 that they were still going but getting harder just not close enough so I went and made dinner. While cooking dinner I timed then and they were about 5-7 min apart only pasting 30 sec or less. We had dinner and they got longer but not closer. I sat on an exercise ball while talking to my mom. Around 8:30pm Carl started to get nerves and looked to see where my contractions were. At this point it was 2-4 min lasting 30-45 sec. He was really afraid I was going to have the baby at home my mom came over to watch Brighton and off to the hospital we went. We got there checked in and I was at 7 cm. Now I really wanted a natural birth this time and wanted to labor mostly at home so when they said 7 I was sad thinking I still had a few hrs I could in the comfort of my home. Well I got moved to the labor room and felt like I really needed to pee. I got up went and they offered me a birthing ball to sit on. It worked great at home so I was all for it but they had to check me first and I was at 8 cm with my water bag bulging. I sat down on the ball and about 10 min later my water broke. They wanted to check me one more time so I got on the bed and immediately had the erg to push. It was like I couldn’t control it at all. Now I had read about this and was as prepared as I felt I could be boy when they said a ring of fire pain they really meant that. Only 2 pushed less than 5 min and she was out. Now I really only went so fast because I did most of the laboring at home for a few weeks but I really feel that I could do this again with no problem. On a side not while we were going to the hospital I was sitting in the car which made it worse because I couldn’t move and I told Carl we are no longer having sex because this is what happens and It’s his fault. Now I have since took it all back and looking back it really wasn’t that bad. Just the fact that I was in car not able to do anything to help out is what made it worse. Now we are home and Carl has taken time off to help me out. He’s been trying to study for 2 big test, write up 2-10 page papers and help me out with the kids. He’s just so amazing and I just love and appreciate him so much.
