I had actually typed this out the other day and it was lost somehow!!! ok here we go....

I had been having cramps and low back pain for over a week. On that Friday, March 26, I started having stronger cramping that didn't go away no matter what I did. I dealt with it all day long. Everyone kept telling me to go to the hospital but I was hesitant because I didn't want to waste my time should it not be true labor. Finally at about midnight, I agreed to go in. And it was just as I thought, I was still 3 cm and 70%. I was bummed that the pains I had been having were doing nothing. The nurse contacted my midwife and she told her to admit me and she would come and check me first thing in the morning. I was ok with that because even though the pains was not intense, it was constant and HAD to get things moving!! I got no sleep that night because the baby kept moving away from the monitor on my tummy and the nurse kept having to come in and adjust it.
The next morning, my fiance Carlos came back at about 7 am, and I didn't really feel in anymore pain than the night before, the cramps were a bit more intense, but nothing major. I did ask for some pain reliever just so I could try to rest. I don't know what they gave me in the IV, but it felt WONDERFUL and I was able to rest for about an hour. So Carlos and my teenage son and his girlfriend went to get some breakfast. When they came back, I was still floating on the pain meds, and it appeared as if the meds had stopped my contractions. My midwife checked me and I was at 6cm already. She was in shock, since the monitor hadn't been registering contractions, and I was not in much pain. She called in the anestesiologist to give me my epi, and after that it was pure heaven. I felt pressure when I had a contraction, but NEVER felt any pain. This was the easiest labor I have ever had.
The last time the midwife came in to check me, I was about 10 and so she said let's start pushing and four pushes later he was out....
So when someone tells you that real labor contractions are so painful you can't talk, thats not always true. Mine never got stronger than bad menstrual cramps!!
