How did you get your LO used to them? We were in the car on the way home today, and Abby announced that she had to go to the bathroom. Brant hightailed it to the nearest restaurant and she freaked out on the toilet. I think it was too big for her. Luckily I had a pull up so I just had her put it on to pee b'c the poor child was terrified.

If you use or have used any portable covers or anything, let me know what has worked for you. Or, if not, tell me your secrets!

When we first started training Daniel he wouldn't go on them and we just let him go in his pull up. I didn't think it was worth the fight.

After a while, it was just the sound of the flush that scared him. Now he doesn't even care.

Riley has went on them a lot..... try telling a just potty trained kiddo he cant go on a toilet .

Well it is a little different since he is a boy. If he has to pee I pull his pants to just above his knees, grab on to his chest, reach between his legs, grab the front of his pants, and hold him up at an angle so he doesn't have to touch anything. Oh BTW his feet don't touch the ground. He isn't tall enough to stand on his own, his pee pee would touch the toilet. The noise of the toilet freaks him out so we have to get out of the stall quickly. For pooping, it's a different story.... I usually make him wait till we get home. Washing his hands in a public restroom is a pain in the butt too. It is usually way too tall and there is typically no stool for him to stand on. I usually rest his stomach on the counter and push my body against his to he doesn't fall. He usually complains that his stomach hurts but oh well... Not washing his hands isn't an option.

Alyssa has never had a problem going on them, as for the size of the toilet she couldn't wait to get off the small potty and on to the big toilet, she sort of just balances herself on it!!

Kaitlyn wont even touch it. She see's me squatting on them and asked me why and I told her because of germs.. and she downright refuses to now too.. so I got to hold her and scoop her with her bum sticking out. That so has to stop soon tho

Samantha never had a problem with them. She's like Alyssa, she couldn't wait to start using the big potty. The only thing that freaked her out and sometimes still startles her is the automatic flushing ones. She was totally freaked out the 1st time i tried to get her to use a porta potty. I so don't blame her for that!

Marissa went from extremely terrified of them (well she was afraid of the hand dryer fans not the toilet) to not minding them out of nowhere.

I have no idea what works because she honestly just said "I have to pee" one day and did it without complaint.

I am pretty sure it's normal for them to be scared at first though.

Thanks for the feedback, girls. We still have to use the padded toilet seats at home/grandma's and at school they have the small toilets. I guess maybe we'll just give it some time 'cause she still isn't fully pee-trained IMO anyway.
