How much time do you think you spend playing with your kids a week?

I just read this blog which said that on the Today show, they said the average SAHM spends 4 hours a WEEK actually playing with their children.

Do you agree or dsagree?

What about your mom? Do you remember her playing with you often?

I know I spend way more than that actually playing.

We usually spend at very least an hour (usually longer) inside and ab 1-2+ hours outside playing blocks, action figures, stacking cups, shape sorting, puzzles, coloring, play-doh, computer games, playing at the playground, running around outside, wrestling, baseball, Frisbee, catch, peek-a-boo, "tickle monster", and SO much more!

Yes, my kids spend a lot of time playing by themselves. But I also spend a lot of time playing with them as well.

Now my mom... I only have one memory of us playing together-barbies, xmas day after getting the Barbie RV

So what do you think?

How much time do you think you spend playing with your kids a week? That is a good question! I probably spend an hour or two a day just playing with her. DH plays when her when he gets home, if he is in town. I would guess we spend at least 10 hours a week just playing.

Do you agree or dsagree? As a teacher, I see how little time parents actually spend with their kids. It is sad. This sometimes makes kids act out to get attention.

What about your mom? Do you remember her playing with you often? My mom did not play with us. I can't think of a time she did.

i play with my kids a few hours throughout the day every day and if i don't get enough time in i always feel very guilty. i don't know everyone's lives but i'm gonna guess there is a good range of parents that do more and even some who do less than the 4 hour range. i remember my mom playing with us quite a bit until my sister and i were older and just wanted to play with each other and friends but we always spent a lot of time with my parents

I feel like it's more like 4 hours a day over here!?!? Less during the school year but not a mere 4 hours per week...THAT's for sure!

With Kaylee being older, they do tend to just play together but we do ALOT of things together.

As for my mom playing with me...I think my g-ma spent more time playing with us than she did.

Definitely more than 4 hours here, but less sometimes when he's playing with the older boys.

My mom worked when I was a kid so I would probably say less time. When I was our kids age my mom was in Bible College and my dad was working and in Bible College so definitely less.

I'd say more than 4 hours a week. Maybe an hour a day? They play with each other a lot.
I don't remember my Mom playing with me. I remember playing with my sisters and brother.

How much time do you think you spend playing with your kids a week? I don't know. She likes to play with the neighbors a lot and watches TV in her room. Since I work full time, it's not 4 hrs a day. She usually hangs out with us a little bit in the evenings and we spend time together on the weekend. She and I shop more and things like that.

My dad said she did. I can't really remember.

We get in from school at around 4pm, and i start cooking dinner, then i dry up and start getting Alyssa washed and ready for bed. We do play while dinners cooking, we sit in the garden an play with the sand, we read her school book, or we sometimes sit on the sofa and colour pictures. On a weekend I play more with her. I'm looking forward to spending time with her when she finishes school next week.

I love playing with my kids... I don't get to play with Connor that much these days since DH gave him his old Gameboy. I feel like the only time I get to see him without his face buried in that thing is when the battery has gone dead and it's charging. I play with Daniel a lot, and the two of them play together quite a bit. I don't remember my parents playing with me hardly at all. In fact, I was an only child, and when my friends couldn't come out to play or it was raining, I remember begging my parents to play with me and they wouldn't. So I was left to my own devices with some crayons or barbies or whatever while my parents watched TV.

Jeez, I'm all sad now. I'm glad my kids have each other so that they won't go through the rainy day loneliness that I went through. Being an only child really sucks sometimes. Like, REALLY sucks.

Chris-I know ab the gameboy. I purposely lost the charger to the GBA. I didn't even see Thomas when it was charging. He would sit next to an outlet and play there.

I have a feeling the DS will end up the same way

The kid is HOOKED on video games. This week I bought a cheap kitchen timer and told him a half hour at a time, 2x a day. And when school starts once a day!
