Looks like my shower might get moved up to end of April which Im excited about (rather than in June). Problem is I live in a smallish town. Target and walmart are here and a mall but my wedding registry wih target was a mightmare. Half the stuff wasnt there anymore or hard to find. So is it ok to do like babies r us online? Or not so much since people would have to buy online. Thoughts?

I did one at Target, Babies R Us, and Amazon.com. I like to give the option of buying online, but I'm assuming most gifts will come from Target since there is no Babies R Us in the town the shower will be in. I think more options would be better. You don't really have anything to loose by registering online and some people prefer to shop online.

So did you register for the same types of things at all places or different things?

I registered at Target and Babies R Us... But honestly I"m not expecting much from the registries. I recently went to a friends baby shower and I was bad, I waited until the last second to buy her gifts...and I could hardly find a thing she registered for at either store!! And the few things I could find, I didn't think were cute enough LOL. So I ended up buying the baby some cute clothes and a cute blanket NOT on the registry.

I know a lot of people register for clothes, and I did a few sleeping gowns and onesies, but honestly so many cute clothes are found in department stores and other clothing stores that I don't want to limit people.

No, I put different things on each one, although there are probably a few items that I have on more than one registry. I put on things that I need and some things I just wanted. I figure if I get too many of the things I want and not enough of the things I need I could just exchange some of the items.

If you do online registries at BRU or Amazon, you'll have more items to choose from so you can put on more of those specialty things that would be nice to have. I would maybe put more of the necessary items on the store registries that you think more people will shop at.

I never buy from a registry and for my first shower the things I really needed wasn't something friends could afford or would buy due to cost and most things I thought I would need I never did. This time I am registering for diapers and wipes

I did three registries, all are available online which is great because the majority of the purchases are going to be people buying online and having them directly shipped to me.

We went with Babies R' Us, Baby Phases (A local specialty baby store) and Restoration Hardware Baby & Child.

We ended up doing a local registry (even though nobody lives here) because purchases in Oregon are tax free (we don't have sales tax) so that's tax free and no shipping. Some things are free shipping from BRU and then RH Baby & Child has inexpensive flat rate shipping.

I will register at Target because when I did my registry the first time, I did BRU and Target, and no one did BRU. The thing to be sure of when you register at Target is to register for stuff that is also available in the store. The best thing to do is go to the store and scan the items. You can also add diapers to your registry which is great!

I ended up with one registry at BRU. I registered mostly for the larger things - knowing that most people who attend the shower won't likely buy those things and aren't people who buy off registries anyway. But you never do know - those are the things we really need, so at least if no one buys them I already have my shopping list ready.

I didn't register for clothes. I figure now that we all know what the baby is, people will all pick up what they love best and that's what I'll have. I also know that if people don't buy clothes, this is the least expensive part, so I can handle that too.

I'd say you know your guests best though...are they generally online shoppers? If so, then an online registry with BRU would be a great idea - if not, then I'd leave the registry as it is (incomplete even) knowing that those same folks who are not online shoppers, aren't maybe even likely to buy off a registry anyway.
Good luck!
