We're not 100% certain, mostly because DH can't commit just yet, but I'm thinking the name is...

Colby Scott

I've always loved Cole...but our last name is Gray and it just sounds like a color...too close to charcoal (and really, that's what it means)...and when we threw it out there we had a few people automatically comment on "coal gray"...so that solidified the someone's-going-to-make-fun-of-this-name factor. I'd forgotten I liked Colby too until I stumbled upon it again...I think it's a good compromise and I really like it. (fun fact: the name Colby {Anglo-Norse} means "swarthy person's settlement" or "Kol's settlement" derived from a man named Kol...or Charcoal...so this kid is destined to be named charcoal either way!)

And both DH's and my father's middle name is Scott, so I definitely wanted that.

My other top choice is William Scott. DH's dad was named William and he passed away a few years ago, but surprisingly, I think DH likes Colby more. He even called him Colby last night so I asked if he decided and he said he was just trying it out. LOL

I think they're both nice, but I really like the sound of Colby Scott. It's just so cute!

LOL ... that gave me a chuckle! =D

I like both Colby Scott and William Scott. But if you have more strong feelings for Colby than William, I say go with that one. Granted, you have to get DH to go along with you ... but it seems he might already getting attached to it by "testing it" out. =D

I like Colby! I am seeing a lot more Williams these days and I don't think I've ever met a Colby. It's unique, but not weird. I think Colby Scott is a nice choice.

I think so too. I didn't want a really popular name (and William is actually fairly common) but I also am not into strange names. Like you said, unique but not weird. I hope DH agrees because I really like this name.
