I had a check-up today and I met the third doctor (out of five) in the group practice today. I really liked her and will probably request the rest of my appointments with her after I meet the other 2 doctors. She was very helpful and took the time to talk to me and answer all my questions. We also started talking about how I wanted a natural childbirth and it sounds like it might not be as difficult as I thought it would be. It sounds like if I request intermittent monitoring I will get it! And she also went ahead and started make notes in my records about wanting a natural birth, not offering me pain medication, not circumcising, etc. I had a fear that I was automatically going to be hooked up to a monitor and confined to a bed, but it sounds like that won't be the case. She said pretty much as long as something is safe and mother and baby are healthy they can pretty well go along with whatever your wishes are.

We also talked about the 2-vessel cord and fluid in Vincent's kidneys and it sounds like it's most likely going to be a non issue. She said there shouldn't be any problems with delivery and there's only a small risk that he will develop IUGR. So I may be having weekly u/s after 32 weeks but I most likely won't need NST's. It just sort of depends on the results of my next u/s at 30 weeks when they recheck the kidneys. So my next appointment is in 4 weeks and I will have my 1 glucose test then too.

Yay that's awesome you have a great appt and a dr that you liked. I had IUGR with DS and the NST's aren't bad at all if you end up having to do them. But hopefully Vincent continues growing at a healthy pace and you get the birth experience that you want.

Glad things went well. It is so nice to have found someone you like and feel comfortable asking questions to. I hope you can continue seeing her. I know for me I see a midwife but so far it has been a different one each time. I hope to see find one I like and ask to see only her. Good luck!

I had them twice/week for the last 2 mos of my pregnancy too, due to bp issues. I hated them. They always scheduled them when dd was asleep & looked at me like i was crazy when i told them that. She slept for 2-3 hrs at a time in the womb & they said it wasnt normal for her to do that. Anyways, if you have to have them, schedule them for when he is awake, or it takes hrs to do them...just to have them send you for an u/s, all bc they wouldnt listen. Lol.

Glad your appointment went well.
