I went in for a routine OB appt. today & found out that I needed another ultrasound. When I had my big u/s 2 weeks ago, I wasn't told that I have a low-lying placenta. They checked again today, and it's still low-lying. (It's probably better that they didn't tell me 2 weeks ago b/c I would have worried about it!)
So SHOULD I be concerned about it? I get nervous with anything placenta-related b/c I had a placental abruption with my 1st pregnancy and was on bed rest for 4 months. Does anyone else have a low-lying placenta?

I had complete placenta previa at 12 weeks and it had moved up an away by 4 cm by the time I was 18 weeks. I think you still have a really good chance of it moving up and away by the time you deliver. Did they give you any restrictions? Will they be scheduling another c/s to see if it moves?

I was told I have a low lying placenta too at my 20 week ultrasound. It was kind of funny because when the tech was scanning me I said to her that my placenta looked awfully close to my cervix. She said my doctor would probably want to talk to me about that. And of course she then told me that I did. I have another ultrasound in 3 weeks (28 week appointment) to see if it has moved. I was told not to worry about it yet because in most women the placenta tends to move up as your uterus grows. I am praying it has moved because I really want another vaginal birth.

Yes, at my 20 week u/s I was told the same. I was able to look up my own results (I am a PA and in the army so I have that luxury..hehe), and my placenta is 1 cm away from my internal cervical os. I haven't had my regular appointment since my ultrasound, - my next appt. is next Friday but they already scheduled a repeat u/s at 25 weeks. The tech told me the same, and what I've read, is that in most cases the placenta grows with the uterus up and out of the way. I think it's most worrisome in the late weeks. If it's still marginal or a complete placenta previa they might do bedrest. This is all what I've researched.

Mine is low as well (1 cm away from the cervix). I have to go back at 32 weeks for another u/s to see if it has moved. Like the rest of you, they said that it should stretch more by then. Otherwise I will need a c-section.

I also have marginal placenta previa & need to go back at 28 wks for another ultrasound. I'm hoping & praying that it has moved up & out of the way so I can have my natural childbirth! My doc said that with marginal, 9 times out of 10 it does move so I'm optimistic. And, I don't have any restrictions.

A repeat ultrasound wasn't scheduled to my knowledge. But I'm assuming they'll want to check it when I go in again next month. They didn't tell me how far it is from the cervix, and didn't give me any restrictions. My appt. was so quick, I think the dr. was headed to the delivery room. I am already scheduled to have a repeat c-section. Hopefully the placenta will move up on its own because I DO NOT want to be on bed rest again!

I had a marginal previa with my last pregnancy. I found out about it sometime around the 20 week mark. By the time 40 weeks came around it had moved up out of the way ( found that out by u/s)
