This is officially the first "complaint" I have had about pregnancy. I have felt great up until now....now it's coming back to bite me. At almost exactly 24 weeks, the heartburn hit in full force! What do I do? What are good foods and bad foods? I'm eating Tums but they don't seem to do much. Please help...I'm so uncomfortable when I lay down to sleep.

I feel you. With my 1st pregnancy it was awful! This time around it is just starting. I also used tums and that helped a bit. I drank tons of milk, that seemed to help me the most and it is great for you and the baby. Another thing is that I didn't eat close to bedtime and at least at the beginning of the night, I elevated myself with a few pillows. It's still tough to go through but that helped me. I hope the other ladies have some more advice, for the both of us.

I don't know if what I am experiencing is heartburn or acid reflux. Either way it is annoying and tums don't help. The milk seems to help more.

I seem to get heartburn every night now..and just like you Liz, it's pretty much my first complaint about this pregnancy. I have also been taking tums nightly, plus drinking lots of water. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to do. I do regularly drink milk and that gives me short term relief ....

I had it really badly from basically 8 weeks to 24 weeks. Tums didn't do much, but Zantac helped. Also, drinking a glass of soy milk really helps me.

Heartburn and acid reflux are actually the same thing!

Avoid acidic and spicy foods (orange juice, tomato sauce, pizza, etc) especially close to bed-time. It also helps if you lift your head by sleeping on several pillows, but not sure how comfy that will be during pregnancy.

Ugh... I'm with you. It just started the last couple of weeks and I have definitely exacerbated it with brownies. My chest feels like it's on fire. Tums are my best friend these days!
