Last night I posted about how I tripped and fell and was concerned about any affects on the baby. Well today I had my ultrasound and she told me I had a placental hematoma. The nurse said I will probably start bleeding as it works it way out, but didn't say much more than that. Does anyone know if this is the same thing as a subchorionic hematoma? Also, for those of you that have had this, should I be taking it easy or anything? I know no more lifting, but that's about it. I'm sure the dr will call if there's any concerns, but I don't want to sit here and worry....

I don't have any experience w/ placental hematomas but I tried to find some info for you online. I do think you should take it easy and rest (wouldn't exercise and do big housecleaning w/ this condition). Did they look at your cervix as well? And when do you have to go back in?

It's kind of upsetting that they gave you a diagnosis and send you home w/o further explanation. I would call the office and ask what you can and can't do. And if there are any concerns that they have. KUP.

PS: Hopefully somebody here has some experience w/ hematomas and can answer your question better.

I didn't want to read and not answer, but I'm not sure if they are the same thing or not. I would give a call over to your OB so you don't have to worry about it.

I would call and ask questions. I think it might be the same thing, but I'm not totally sure. When they told me I had an SCH with my youngest though I Googled and freaked myself out. Don't search!

I am not entirely sure that they are exactly the same thing. The chorion forms the side of the placenta that attaches to the fetus so it very well could be the same thing, but with the term placental hematoma that's a little vaguer and not as specific, but I am really honestly not sure. They could be synonymous. I'd ask your doctor. I'd probably try and take it easy as well.

I know, it is kind of frustrating. my next appt is in 3 wks and my dr had told me I wouldn't be lef hanging after the ultrasound until then. A nurse did come out and talk to me but I would rather talk to my OB. If I hadn't fallen, I wouldn't be as concerned. At least I know baby girl is ok.....
