I went for my 17 week appointment today.. and the doctor just happened to have a little ultrasound machine there.. so she said.. for the fun of it we should have a look! Of course I was extatic since Alan has never seen baby.. and I havn't since it was about.. 6 and a half weeks old...

It was the most absolutely perfect thing I have ever seen.. Amazing profile view.. baby sucked its thumb.. then pulled out the thumb.. waved at us.. wiggled its fingers.. then stuck its thumb back in it's mouth.. kicking it's little feet.. heart beating strong at 160 <3

Alan got teary eyed.. I was just on cloud nine and couldnt believe what I was seeing.. perfect head and nose.. everything was perfect.

She tried to get a good look at the bum but couldn't.. she said she was absolutely useless with U/S machines lol.. It was amazing though.

Everything else seems good.. i'm measuring.. 19-20 weeks.. my uterus is right at my belly button.. I have my formal U/S next week sometime.. and then my Gender U/S on April 5th.. I feel bad about the frequent U/S's but couldn't resist a look at the baby..

I'm so in love!

Oh but only negative is my pap came back abnomal.. I have to go for a biopsy when the babies born BUT it's okay.. I'm not too worried.

I'm glad everything went well with the u/s. Could you request a repeat pap between now and then? Every woman I've known has had an abnormal at least once and the biopsy has always been perfect. You'd think that's something they'd double check since everything from DTD to a cervical check can cause abnormal results.

Yeah, I would ask for a second pap. A biopsy seems kinda extreme. Most of my paps have come back abnormal and the follow up has always been normal.

If you can't get them to do a 2nd PAP maybe they can at least do a colposcopy after the pregnancy to see if there's even anything worth biopsying. I've had abnormal PAPs every 6 months since 2006 and have only needed a biopsy once, I think they're going a little overboard by jumping straight to that.

Yay for seeing your baby! It really is amazing!

That's so cool that your Doc just surprised you like that! How fun! Although I would have been dying to find out the gender!

I too would ask for another pap before going through biopsies.

I actually had a follow up with my GP.. he said my results were.. moderate - severe.. and taht he doesnt want me to worry.. that they are going to do a colposcopy.. and if theres evidence of cancer or whatever.. they will burn it off.

STILL SO EXCITED I SAW BABY!.. oh and my other ultrasound is next week sometime.. the official one where they do measurments and everything..
