I am sure alot of us are going through this now, but my back is killing me!!! I was using my heat pack on my back, but my Mom suggested I make sure that is ok. I know you can't go into a hot tub or sauna, but what about a heat pack? Before I got pregnant I had the same pain that would shot down my leg, but I had pain meds I could take. Obviously I can't do that now, so it is hard to deal with it knowing I can't get the pain to go away. I was thinking about getting one of those massage wands or something like that. I have a call into the nurse, but wanted to see what everyone else was doing.

I'm sure a heat pack is okay on your back. You can take tylenol for the pain. hope it gets better!

The key, whether it's a heating pad, hot bath or hot tub, is to not let your internal temperature get above 102 degrees. You can't allow yourself to get overheated...it's like running a fever. We have a hot tub and it has been a savior for my back and hips. But I keep the temp at 100 and never stay in more than 10 minutes. As long as you use a hot pack in moderation and don't overheat yourself you should be fine.

I have a massager from Brookstone which helps a lot. I started seeing my chiro a few weeks ago and this has helped with my back pain and sciatica.

Maybe you could try a pregnancy support belt too. That might help with the back pain.

I am sorry to hear of your back pain. I too have been using a hot compress on mine, but I traded in my heating pad for a homemade Rice sock. Basically you take uncooked rice (not the minute kind) and fill up a gym sock with it. Then nuke it for a minute in the microwave. The heat lasts for over an hour. I nuke mine for a minute, then flip it and cook it a little more. If you use the minute rice, however, it will catch fire. >< Uncooked rice, the kind that takes 20-30 minutes to cook is the kind to use. I love my rice sock!
