...So!.. I was talking to the doctor.. about how when I orgasm my uterus hardens up for a long time and feels cramped up.. she said she would never ask someone not to "have sex" with their partners.. She misunderstood me lol.. so then I said.. "what about vibrators.. the vibrations wouldn't hurt the baby?" She said she would recommend I "stay away from batteries".. now I don't know if she meant.. on the inside or the outside.. but the conversation was getting far too awkward..
So ladies.. from your point of view.. should I not use a vibrator for clitoral stimulation? do you think it hurts the baby...
I have had sex a few times.. but i'm more worried about the vibration.
Thanks!

I would say that clitoral stimulation would be fine. I don't see how that could hurt the baby in any way.
My poor BF has been so upset that he never gets it....LOL I just have no desire or need. I laugh and say the first trimester wasn't good for you and the second isn't looking in your favor either. Maybe third you will get lucky....LOL

I don't see how a vibrator could hurt a baby either. ETA: Now that the nausea's pretty much gone I find myself jumping DH's bones much more often than I used to.

lol I am so picturing your Dr.'s face!
Here is my opinion: Your Dr might be a rather uptight person when it comes to toys. I would just do what feels good...lol I mean if you use a vibrator and it hurts our you feel even more crampy (internal use) then stop for awhile.
I dont see how either would hurt though. Just do what is comfortable. I know that when I "O" my uterus gets really hard too. Actually the baby just kinda rises to the surface beneath my belly button and makes it seem hard for awhile...
I say good for you for enjoying the 2nd tri so much

I just read something today that said after an orgasm it is normal for your uterus to tighten up and get real hard. I used a vibrator all throughout my last pregnancy and my DS is fine. I have used it this pregnancy too. I wouldn't worry about it harming the baby. I agree that maybe your doctor is just uptight about "toys".

I don't see any reason that it wouldn't be safe. contractions after orgasm are completely normal and expected.

I would say you have nothing to worry about. I am thinking she might just be uptight about toys and honestly never would have crossed my mind to ask..lol Even if used internally I don't see how it would be much different then the real thing ya know.

To be honest, I googled it awhile ago and didn't find anything that said not to, unless your dr. put you on pelvic rest b/c of issues. But if you haven't been told to abstain from sex, I don't see what a vibrator would hurt. The uterus hardening up is completely normal. I say if it works for you, then do it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Because DH isn't as "into" DTD as I am, I end up having an orgasm from clitoral stimulation almost daily LOL (I know, TMI - but I have a point, I swear!)
Every single time my uterus hardens up and sticks out, and I can feel it for awhile - then it goes away. In fact, baby seems MORE active on those days - maybe because the uterus is still a little tense so I can feel baby more? IDK
Stay away from batteries - maybe she meant no car batteries?? LOL
I'd say unless you're using a diesel powered vibe, which could have negative effects from the exhaust, you're perfectly fine hunnie

Im guilty too I did with my last pregnancy and this one too. My doctor said it was perfectly fine... & the hardening was normal... Just like a orgasmic birth... they do that to help make it contract (from what I read).
Now I have anal sex questions, but I'll have to get more guts to ask those lol
Have fun with the toys !!!

Guilty here. So long as you're not so overly enthusiastic with a toy to really cause any bleeding, you should be fine. My doc even said if it's a little bit of spotting, don't worry too much about it. But just a vibe for clitoral stimulation? I don't see the problem. SO and I have been having some issues lately and we don't DTD nearly as often as I like ((plus he also works long hard hours during the week)) so I'd die without something with batteries.

You got some answers, maybe you don't feel so awkward now LOL
Toys are fine. Just make sure they are cleaned well to reduce risk of an infection, which seem easier to get in pregnancy.
As for the uterus thing, that is normal. It's normal to have tightenings after orgasm.... Later on, when we are all trying every safe home method that we can hear about or think about (spicy foods, walking, driving on bumpy roads, etc), orgasm will be one of the top ones to kick start some contractions... As long as you aren't on bedrest, or at risk for preterm labor and you're dr. doesn't tell you otherwise, then it's fine to have sex or orgasm as much as you want lol.

Nope, go ahead and use your toy!
I didn't cramp up with orgasm with my first two, but I do with this one. It can be ouch! But I haven't had sex in WEEKS, but I have dreams that seem to make me deal with the crampy uterus.
Those orgasm hormones are what really set off contractions in the end anyway, just in bigger amounts.
