My 14mo's carseat arrived today (Sunshine RadianXT...highly recommend!!! We're selling our 3 Britax and replacing them with the Radians.). We put it in then I had my dh put her infant seat back in to make sure everyone would fit when baby arrives. Standing there looking in the van with not 5 but now 6 carseats was amazing; I got butterflies in my stomach (and no, it wasn't baby moving, lol) and am sooooo excited to make the traditional drive home from the hospital with not 8 but 9 precious dc in the van. I remember turning to look at my dc in the van when we were heading home after the last baby and crying, it was so sweet to see so many seats filled and another little one joining us.

I love these moments. I love the realizations that bring this closer to home.

We've never had that many carseats in our van. We have 2 right now and there will be 3 when baby is born, but your kids are closer together in age than mine.

you just made me cry! I love this feeling too. the carseat thing is a real passage moment for me. we usually put it in around 28 or so weeks and it hits home. My kids were really sick with the flu when i had number three so we came home with just bsby in the car My other favorite is the kids visiting after the baby is born and they come in exceited and we do out first new a family of __ picture! Such big genuine smiles on everyones face! <3

Awwww.....I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling. I will have 3 carseats this time around too. I was just imagining the noise level in your van with 9 kiddos.

15 passenger van. All the dc up through my 9yo are in some kind of carseat - we do super extended carseat/booster seats.

The reason this is so special to me is that in 2001 we bought an 8 passenger van and had 4 carseats (4dc age 5 and under). I ASSumed we would fill the van but 2 years and too many losses of both babies and part of my reproductive system later, no more carseats had been added. That was the saddest time of my life and I finally began to accept that there would be no more babies, just a big van with too much space. So every time another seat is added I am reminded of that time and amazed at how my life has gone since then. I never, never, never take for granted now adding another seat to the van, another baby to the family.
