So I had my glucose screen today and I just decided to skip breakfast because I woke up pretty late and I was afraid if I ate something, it would affect my results. I had the orange glucola drink already and my plan was to drive about halfway to the appointment, drink the drink, and then drive the rest of the way (because my MD's office is kinda far and LA traffic is always horrible). But I was running late so I just drank it while I was driving. I think it worked out better that way because I was distracted instead of just having to concentrate on that sickeningly sweet drink. Yuck! And I love orange soda, so that's saying something.
The appointment went very well!! My MD took another doppler of the baby's heartbeat, and her heartbeat actually sped up when she heard herself LOL. The doctor said not all baby's are so reactionary at this age, but it was a good thing. I told hubby about it later and I said "Maybe she'll have good reflexes" and he said "Maybe she'll be extremely skittish".
I was SOOO afraid of my MD saying something about my weight gain again, but luckily she said I'm on track. I've gained 19 pounds so far. This was also the first appointment where she measured my belly and she said I'm on track there too. I asked her if she was going to do another ultrasound and she said she would at my next appointment in 4 weeks, so apparently I don't have to start coming in every 2 weeks just quite yet. Probably after my next appointment.
Anyway, then it was time for my blood draw...and I'm kinda nervous about it, because they drew it about 8 minutes before the hour mark. I don't know if that'll make a difference or not. But as long as I don't hear from them by Monday, I should be ok.
Okay, now onto my horrible pregnancy brain. I was so happy with such a great appointment overall that I decided to run some errands...I went to Walmart and got a few baby clothes and then I went to Target and got some more and looked around...all the sudden when I was in line at Target, my heartrate went up, I started sweating, and I felt like I was going to faint. I suddenly realized it was 1:30 pm and I hadn't eaten anything since about 8 am last night. Usually I keep some emergency pretzels or granola bar in my purse, but apparently I went through those before and never replaced them. So then I stopped by Burger King and headed home...in the horrible LA traffic!! The scary thing is when I got home, I actually sat in my car for awhile trying to compose myself and give myself enough energy to get out and walk to the front door. Luckily I made it, and dove right in. And that Jr. whopper is the best thing I've ever eaten in my entire life!
