Benji Riott arrived yesterday at 36 weeks (my water broke Tuesday afternoon sometime). He was 6lbs 4 oz and 18.5 inches long. We thought he was doing ok, but we learned this afternoon that I was group B strep positive and he has infection in his blood. They gave him a spinal tap to check for meningitis and he's getting two IV antibiotics right now to control infection. We're hoping to get to bring him home in 7-10 days.
I will share his birth story later and keep you posted on how he's doing...but good thoughts sent his way would really be appreciated.

Oh my goodness, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'll definitely be thinking about him (and you). I hope that he gets to come home soon, and that they can quickly take care of the infection.

Even with the antibiotics babies can contract the infection when the water is broken for a long period of time. The good news is that an early blood test after birth can catch the infection and allow treatment to begin.
I really hope everything goes smoothly and he's home before you know it!
