We had some meconium issues, and now Avery is having breathing troubles. She has been in the NICU since birth. They still don't know if it's from the meconium or if it's something called TTNB. They're pretty sure its TTNB, which is usually found in C-section babies but she was delivered naturally, so I'm not sure why she has it. She had to wear what we called a space man mask all day (because it made her look like an astronaut) yesterday and then they were able to take her off oxygen. I got to hold her for the first time last night!
However, overnight she had more breathing difficulties, so they put her back on oxygen. She is off again and we are hoping it stays that way. I get to go try breast feeding now, hope it goes well!
Keep Avery in your thoughts and prayers! She will be in the NICU at least a couple more days according to the doctor.
Oh, Paula, I will definitely be praying for Avery! I'm so happy for you that you had a speedy delivery, but so sorry that you haven't gotten to be with your baby girl (btw, SO excited that you had a girl! I always had a girl feeling for you ).
I hope that breastfeeding goes smoothly, and she can be permanently off the oxygen, and going home soon! I've been thinking about you and your new family a lot.
So sorry she has been in the NICU I can't imagine how hard that is Madelyn had breathing issues at first (was born 39 weeks via c-section) and it was scary but luckily she didn't have to go to the NICU. Praying for Avery!

She is sooo cute - even with the astronaut helmet! Everything will be fine in no time. Just enjoy your gorgeous little girl. AND when the lactation consultants come to visit you, take advantage of that service and don't be embarrassed. They really are helpful.
T&P's! Can't wait to read your birth story and see some pics of Avery!
