So, my husband and his family are from a city in Pakistan called Peshawar. Recently, it and the surrounding areas have been hit by massive flooding. Thankfully, his home in Peshawar is ok, but his sister's house is in an area called Nowshera that has been hit bad. Her house has been basically destroyed and she, her DH and LO's have had to escape to Islamabad to an Uncle's house. DH's parents just returned from a month-long trip to London, and their flight had to land in Islamabad instead of Peshawar. They've been stuck for a few days. Thankfully, DH's brother has driven to Islamabad to pick them all up (apparently it's taken all day for him to drive there, when it's typically a 3-hour drive). Getting ready to call their house in Peshawar in an hour or so, hopefully they will have arrived. DH's family also owns alot of farmland and has farmers and their families living there, in a town called Charsadda which has also been hit really hard. I haven't been able to get any info on their farmers and farmlands yet.

I'm asking everyone to please say prayers for these people. Not only have they been ravaged by the Taliban and car bombings, now they have to deal with this. Soon, I'm sure disease will break out causing further destruction. These people are such good, kind people with so little. The media makes them all out to be terrorists, but they're not. They're plagued by extreme terrorism and war every day, and now this. So many people have lost every single belonging they had, which wasn't even much to begin with. PLEASE pray for them!!!!

I hope they are all okay and that the house and land is alright when they get there!

How tragic for this to have happened. I'm sorry to hear of your SIN's loss but thankfully her and her family escaped! I will be sending positive thoughts out hoping people stop losing their lives and that the recovery will not be too difficult and long lasting.

Thank you so much everyone! I just spoke with them, they've all made it back safely to my IL's home in Peshawar. They're all obviously exhausted. I spoke with SIL, her story is so hard to hear, but thankfully she is safe. Flood waters have receded and her DH is there trying to clean up. Apparently snakes are the problem now...I guess they're everywhere.

The farmlands/villagers are safe. No flooding there, just some crop damage. It seems Sarah's house (SIL) was the only home hit hard within DH's family. They managed to save some valuables and deeds and paperwork for the land they own, but everything else is basically gone.

Thanks again for your prayers. Please continue praying for those less fortunate!

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond...but know this situation has been on my mind. I am glad to hear the villagers and farmlands are safe! It's quite a shame to hear SIL has lost nearly everything, but at least no one was lost.
