I took Aidyen to the dr. on Monday because of a cough and she said that he was fine and did nothing...so he gets worse and I take him back in on Wed. and come to find out he has bronchitis. He has been coughing/choking, wheezing and he is so congested So the doc tells us what to watch for, fast, dificult breathing. so last night around 10pm I noticed that he seemed like he was having trouble breathing, so I called and the doc said to take him in because you can't be too careful with babies. We get to the ER around 11pm they give him prednisone, he throws up twice, then they did a chest xray he throws up again so they give him zofran. The chest xray was normal and they gave him more prednisone since he threw up the dose before. Now my poor baby is has to take amoxicillin, prednisone, and albuterol I hate seeing him so miserable

(((hugs))) I've been following Aidyen on FB. I hope he's feeling better soon. My DD has viral asthma so we've done a lot of prednisone/albuterol treatments. It's always hard when they are this young. Try to get some sleep. The antibiotic will have him feeling better soon.
I hope he gets better soon, I have tried getting sleep, but I can't, I am scared to death that he is going to choke or stop breathing, so I am up most of the night watching him. When your DD was a baby did you have to do the albuterol treatments, and if so how do you get such a young baby to keep the mouthpiece in their mouth? it seems like half of the medicine is just being wasted and he is not getting much in him.

Yes we had to do the treatments. We still do when ever she gets a cold. Did they give you an AeroChamber? It's a mask with a tube connected to it, the inhalor connects to the end of the tube. You place the mask over babies mouth and nose, spray the medicine into the tube and count 5 breaths. It looks like this:
Also, when ever Grace was having problems breathing I used to always have her sleep elevated. WHen she was a baby she was in the swing. In fact, Caleb as been throwing up so he'll be sleeping in the swing tonight...of course I'll be on the sofa right next to him.
So sorry for the sickies! We still have to do breathing treatments with my older DD every night. Do you have an inhaler or a nebulizer? We have a nebulizer and it makes it a lot easier, the pharmacy has masks that go around the nose/mouth. Also, I totally agree with having him sleep elevated. But hang in there, the predisone really should work fast, in another 24 hours or so you should see a huge improvement!
They didn't give us an inhaler, they gave us the liquid albuterol that you put into this thing that is attached to the nebulizer. Do they make little masks for those?

Sorry, I don't know why I just assumed you had an inhalor...probably because that's what I'm used to using...
Yes, you should be able to get the masks for the nebulizer. DD was on the nebulizer for a short time and had a mask... I've never ordered from this site but it will give you an idea... Nebulizer Accessories
