OMG, I seriously bawled my eyes out for 10 minutes. I'm still tearing up. I don't know if it'll be duplicated anytime soon... but I am so shocked. I was doing the dishes and she was rolling on her back and belly and looked like she was trying to crawl (no shocker, she's been getting into an almost-crawl position for several months now) and I kept looking down because when she sees me looking at her, she starts whining for me to help her up. The next thing I knew, she was sitting!

Sorry I know most of your kids can sit up but for me this is HUGE. I honestly don't think even walking will beat this, but maybe I'm wrong!

She's a little over 9 and a half months btw.

Yay! I'm still waiting for this. I can't wait until he stops whining because he wants to sit up - it gets old really quickly.

Yea!! It's so funny when they start sitting up on their own. It takes awhile before they have it perfected; Avery would end-up in some weird half sitting positions before she really got it.

Have you been doing anything to help her or did she just figure it out on her own? I'm starting to think it's a lost cause.

She did it on her own. I honestly don't know if she figured it out...Like I think she was just moving around and somehow catapulted herself up or something. Like I said, I have to see how soon she does it again. Usually when she does something new, she'll do it over and over again, trying to perfect it. I don't think she realized she sat up on her own because she didn't immediately lie down to try it again.

I WAS trying to help her a few times in the past several days by holding her legs down like Holly suggested, but she would start screaming when I did that. So I stopped. It really was random and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the tail-end with my own eyes.

She is 10 days away from being 10 months old (crazy!), and I think Maggie was almost 10 months when she first sat up? I think Vincent will get it in the next few weeks.

Yay! What an exciting mom moment.

I've only seen Juliana does this a couple of times and she mostly still whines when she wants to sit up. I hope it sticks for Ari.

I don't want to get too excited (LOL who am I kidding, I already did!) but she hadn't done it again all day...until just now.

AND she fed herself a mum-mum today!!! Crazy, everything is literally happening in one day. By the time I put her to bed, she'll probably be walking on her own and maybe tying her shoelaces LOL.
