So yeah, in addition to the BIZARRE naps (like I posted in a few other threads, she's recently been acting super tired but won't actually go down for a nap for a couple of hours after she starts rubbing her eyes/acting cranky), she's now waking up at night and not going back to sleep. Now maybe if she was in her own room, she'd be up for quite awhile and then go back to sleep but since she is co-sleeping and my brain doesn't function at night, I've been giving her small bottles to try to get her to go back to sleep, but this only lasts a few hours...so finally I gave her a bigger bottle but she didn't finish it and was up a few hours later.

I also brought her upstairs today at 4:30 am because hubby needs to rest for work. So maybe I'm not doing things right but I don't know what else to do. She's been having this non-stop whine as well...I have no idea what's wrong. Doesn't seem to be teething for once. I'm hoping its just a phase and she'll outgrow it, but ugh, its hard to deal with!!!

Have you thought about having her ears checked? I ask because my oldest had SEVERE infection, tubes, blah blah. Her symptoms were NOT sleeping, refusing to lay down, and super fussy. She never ran fevers or pulled at her ear. Different babies show different signs for ear infection as Kaileigh does run a fever with her's, but Kaitlyn who had them much much worse, didnt run a fever.

Good luck, Im sorry she's not sleeping. I would call the pedi though. Tell them she's not sleeping, fussy, and you think she have have an ear infection, Im sure they will get you in asap for that.

The only reason I'm thinking it might not be an ear infection is the fact that if she is laying on the rug, she is fine. She's actually "fine" when I lay her on the bed too, she would just rather roll around and play then sleep. Which is fine (well, comparatively) during the day but at night I have to bring her to the living room... where she starts rubbing her eyes. Really sounds like the "9-month sleep regression"...I've been lazy about getting black-out curtains because we are planning on moving sometime in the summer or fall, but now I'm thinking it might be worth it.

Does she understand it's time for bed? When you bring her downstairs/upstairs. Do you allow her to play? She is at the age if you are allowing her to play than of course she doesn't want to go back to sleep. haha That's just my opinion. When London wakes up in the night she already knows that Im not going to allow her to stay up and do whatever. My kids are on a pretty strict schedule because I do work full time and that is what works for us. Sorry you are going through this!

Hmmmm.... Ethan was like Kaitlyn, it was so hard to tell he had ear infections (& he had them all the time). He would get whiny & fussy & not sleep. He was always better during the day, but night time was when his ears hurt him. He never ran a fever or even acted sick until the infection got really bad & he'd wake-up at night screaming. Then he could sleep upright laying across my chest, but not laying down in his crib. Hahahaha of course because of the experiences Shannon & I have had with chronic ear infections that's always going to pop into our heads.

You so right! I even have to tell myself to stop thinking Kaileigh has an infection every time she gets fussy. I think it's just because I cant believe I actually have a child who isnt near as sick as my first was. I say "sick" because we were literally at the dr's 3x a month either for her GERD or Ear infections.

Of topic, but the new girl on 16 and pregnant Jordan, her son has severe GERD just like my oldest did. Not many people know how bad and hard it is dealing with it, and all the meds, and Im glad to see someone on TV showing others that having a baby with medical needs makes it 10x harder and I wasnt even a teen mom, and it was HARD.

Yeah I saw that episode! Caden also had severe GERD and he still has it bad!!! Apparently his severe asthma is related to his GERD!! We just got put back on meds for it and he is 4! So like myself you can still end up dealing with this way after the baby stage

Hmm, maybe I SHOULD call the pedi...

As far as knowing nighttime is for sleep, well she knew it quite well until recently! The problem is, since we co-sleep, if she's not settling for awhile I need to take her to the living room so my hubby can sleep. Her own room isn't an option right now until we buy a bigger place in the next few months. I think that's going to help a lot!

Luckily hubby has a few days off for easter... gonna buckle down and NOT be so quick to feed her or remove her when she starts up.

Oh! Shannon, another one of your post had me thinking, maybe she is slightly constipated? I've noticed she keeps sporadically getting backed up, I think because I keep feeding her bananas. Gonna stop doing that for a few days and see if it helps.

Yep, Kaitlyn had it bad until 1 1/2, and couldnt eat anything with tomatos, until well after 2 or she would vomit it up, and even now at 4, we limit it because she says it hurts her tummy. She doesn't vomit anymore, but I still think the acid bothers her.

Sorry, didnt mean to hijacking the thread Seema.

Is there a Target near you? Or somewhere that sells the Ella's Kitchen organic pouches? Avery used to get kinda backed-up too & I started giving her this every other day & it really helped. It has other stuff in it, so the prunes don't taste so bad. It also didn't make Avery explode (like straight prunes did), it just helped keep her regular.

Yes, I was actually going to go to Target to the get the prunes! I mix it with oatmeal, she likes them! But I'm totally going to get that, I love it when they mix veggies and fruit. Thanks for the suggestion!

Juliana had a night very similar to what you describe. She had a lot of gas when she woke up, so I think the problem was that I ate kidney beans and broccoli last night. I know you're not nursing so this doesn't help you, but it's weird that the symptoms were the same. She had trouble falling asleep last night and also woke up at 5:30 am alternating between crying and playing.

So last night was better!! She did wake up one time and had a 2 oz bottle, but that was it... and I have NO idea what time she woke up, I didn't check. All I know is she went down at 9:00, woke up some time during the night (hubby says he thinks it was around midnight), and woke up at 7:00 (she had been getting around 4:30-5). I actually woke up before her... heaven!!

And I did do something different last night...I left the window open a bit. I noticed she was getting very sweaty while she slept, her hair would always be damp. I'm really hoping that was the issue!! We'll see how tonight goes...

Stella has been sleeping horribly. She wakes up about 4 times, and is up for good at 6. I mean, she has never slept through the night, but it has been worse lately. Our new apartment is really dry, even with a humidifier, and she has a cold and is teething. I hope it is just her teeth.
