This also started quite suddenly....I can barely diaper Emmett! He is ridiculous, screaming and flipping himself out of my hands and over and smacking me and kicking and arching his back. I don't know what to do. I think it took me 5 times to get a diaper on him this morning. He's doing this about 50% of the diaper changes now. I have tried to offer him a toy or something, he just flings them away.
I can't believe how strong he is. I literally cannot hold him still enough to change him.
Any advice? Please tell me it's a phase.

Ty recently started screaming in fits the second I lay him on the changing table to change his diaper or his clothes. He just goes nuts! I have to offer him one his shoes to chew on while I change him because he doesnt want a toy either. Then the second we are done and I pick him up he is happy as can be
Perhaps try something "non toy" and see if it captures his attention? I hope this is a quick phase they are in!

No real advice- just commiseration. Sorry. Aaron has been doing this for a couple months now, it's terrible.

Stella went through this for a few weeks, but is getting better. I rest her head on a mini Boppy-like pillow. But what really works is that I tell her no and place my hand firmly on her belly. Telling her no made it worse at first, but she seems to be getting the picture. Since we moved to this apartment her changing pad is on the ground, which makes it really easy for her to try and escape.

We have the same issue here. I buckle him in every time because he almost flips off even with me holding him. I just started telling him No also and he helps sometimes. Hoping it will start to work if I am consistent.

Yes London was the same way. She is getting alot better though. I just say "No" and continue changing her. I think me being consistent has helped her understand that she can't do that.

It's the same here. I sometimes recruit DH to help distract him. Sometimes I can distract him with another diaper to play with. I know most people say it gets better, but I remember struggling with DD and she was over a year old!

I use things to distract her. If it's close to a bottle time I give her the bottle to hold and drink while I do that. Other times I just give a toy or book, or her stuffed monkey, or binky. If none of those work I just hurry and tell her "no, ma'am, it's diaper time." So hopefully she learns that diaper time is just a quick change, and she can go back to doing what she was. (honestly, Im hoping we only have about 9 more months of diapers if Im lucky like I was with her sister LOL)

I am totally Luckering here (I'm from Sept 10 playroom looking to see what is coming up next for us)
Have you ever tried standing him up to change him? That is how we do it at daycare with the toddlers and how I changed my other son at this age and am starting with Gavin.
Let him stand holding something, normally i do one side, then the other and have to go back and fix the first side again.
after doing it a few times it is actually really easy!
Good Luck and I hope you don't mind we writing here

give him something he's not supposed to have i have to give kenna the thermometer, the diaper cream tube, my toothbrush, anything she usually is never allowed to hold during diaper changes.

Thanks for posting! I appreciate the idea....the kid does love to stand. I'm not sure I'm clever enough to diaper change him like that, but it probably just takes practice. I feel like I'm jello wrestling a wild hog right now.

I've been having this problem also. It's torture to change her freaking diaper. I try to put it off for as long as possible
I really don't have any advice either. I kinda just try to change her on the floor and let her move a bit while I'm doing it. It's frustrating, but I really hope it gets better for us. Sometimes I feel like putting her in a leg lock or something...that might be child abuse, meh
