What are your thoughts? Caden has now ditched them, but when he was around 2 he loved them! My MIL was all for it and actually purchased some for him!! haha. My husband freaked out of course.....
BTW: this is at no attempt to start a huge debate...haha. I was just curious, because one of my friends is actually going through a battle with her hubby over this issue.

hmm...Thats a hard thing for me. I see it both ways but I know my dh wouldnt want his son playing with girly things(thats just the way my dh is though). With that being said, I cant really give much of an answer because I dont have a boy. What I think could change if I actually had a boy. I will say, my girls do have boy toys though, and my oldest loves cars and trucks and she has boyish dress up clothes.

I don't see anything wrong with a boy playing with a doll. I'm pretty sure both my brothers played with their sisters' dolls, and both grew into "manly" men. My DD1 has a few Spiderman action figures and a bunch of toy cars and trucks.
The whole gender neutral thing is biased towards girls though. It's okay for a girl to be a "tomboy".

I have no issues with boys and dolls or girls with "boy" toys. Kids are kids and toys are toys, they should play with whatever piques their curiosity. That is how they explore their world and learn. Besides, playing with dolls and such encourages nurturing behaviour. Don't we all want our children to grow up as caring, nurturing adults?
Personally I believe the longer they can go without having traditional gender roles thrust upon them the better. If that makes any sense. Just my opinion, though.

Ds is 6 years old and he plays dolls and house with the girls, but he still plays with boy things too but the girls play with boy things too. I don't see anything wrong with it. Ds also loves to help me bake and cook too.

Totally OK with it over here! Children develop their own gender identity regardless of what is pressed upon them in the home. I hate the idea that we start to press our own views of gender on them at such a young age. (There are some really cool studies out there on all this, btw.)

I'd rather my son play with a doll than play with guns or other toy weapons.

I think little kids are fascinated by babies, so it is only natural that little boys will have some interest in dolls, even if it is less than girls have on average.
