What is your routine for reading bedtime stories? I used to rock my LO in the glider and read books as he would get drowsy. Now he is so wiggly and tries to flip over, crawl on me, kick the book or eat the pages. I tried putting a blanket & pillows on the floor to try and do our bedtime story there but he just crawls away. Same if I try reading a story during the day, he just has no interest. I know it is important to read to babies but I have been reading a lot less lately because he just wont stay still.

I honestly think that these babies are young. I know everyone says to read to them from the time they are born but you can't force them. Stevie won't stay still either. Sometimes when I am breast feeding him, I read to him but he isn't paying attention, he is eating.

I figure when he is ready I will know.

I usually read dd a book and he is in my lap. He doesn't really pay much attention but sometimes I try to get dd to read the book too. She likes to show him pictures, even though he would rather eat the book.

We read to DD but its rare. She has only a short attention span before she moves on. So I don't worry about it.

I don't read bedtime stories until they are a bit older. We do look at books during the day but it's just for her to see the colours and feel the textures, but most of the time she's eating them or trying to rip them into pieces anyway. I usually start with the bedtime story when they are around 1 1/2 - 2 years old, when they can sit still. My routine right now is to give a bath, put on jammies, get the bottle and go off to bed.

I REALLY need to start doing this. I was reading "heidi" to Heidi while I nursed her and the older kids came in to listen but then I started slacking again. I should do that tonight.
