Okay...I always stress that I spend way too much money, but while shopping with my BFF today she said "sometimes I can't stand shopping with you because you never want to buy things bc you either don't want to go up a size, or you don't want to spend the cash." We're extremely close, so we can be very blunt with each other.

This made me think...am I really that money conscious? I have no problem buying things for Leah, but when it comes to myself...I just can't do it.

Of course after we had this convo, I went on a little spree and bought myself a pain of $90 shoes.

So my question to you ladies...what are your spending habits like? Do you treat yourself/splurge every once and a while?

I try to "splurge" on myself but I found myself spending WAY to much for my babies, but I can't help it. Like Kristen said it feels so good when I buy things for them. I love the shoes and shoes are my weakness! OMG!! I have way to many shoes but I would so buy those right now!

I am addicted to Amazon.com, cloth diapers, and Hanna Andersson at the moment. Ugh.

I bought some clothes a few weeks ago from Gap because of the 30% off thing, does that count? haha

I'm not great at buying things for myself either, but I need to be. I have two pair of shorts and one pair of jeans that fit and that's literally it. Going on a shopping spree as soon as Josh gets back from his work trip!!

I don't spend much on myself either, it's mostly the kids, but I do need to buy some new shorts as none of mine fit that are appropriate for wearing in public, this week, I've been wearing my workout shorts around, not very nice to leave the house in. I have one skirt adn a couple of shirts that I can wear with it but I'd like to have a couple of summer dresses, plus when I buy for myself, it's usually a thrift store or yard sale.

I rarely spend money on myself and even when I do buy clothes they're from Target or crazy clearance at Kohl's. Our cat accidentally tore my favorite pair of jeans last week and they're beyond repair. I've had them 6 years and I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the need to replace them.

My husband has to give me cash and tell me to go spend money on myself for me to buy new clothes. I hate spending money.

I don't really spend money on either myself or Emmett. But, when I need something (like workout clothes/workout shoes), I don't limit my spending if that makes sense.

With Emmett, I buy all used stuff/hand me down stuff.

I desperately need regular clothes too but it's very hard to shop with a baby!! Also, I'm still not down to the size I want to be yet so I don't want to "waste" money. Part of my issue is I'm so particular about fit/form that I really have a hard time finding that quality in cheaper clothes. BUT, we can't afford expensive clothes anymore. So, I'm at an impasse, haha.

Not really. I bought some new work clothes at NY & Company because I needed them & they were on sale. I do a lot of presentations at work, so I have to look professional. I also bought myself some decent make-up right before I went back to work in March (thanks for the recomendation, Holly!!), but that will last me forever. I consider both the clothes & make-up a "work related" expense, meaning I wouldn't have bought any of it if it weren't for my job. I usually buy stuff for the kids or the house (I'm a bit of a DIY addict).

All my spending is on the kids. I do allow myself a new expensive diaper bag every season and a pedicure twice a month. I also spoil myself by spoiling them. For example I spent a lot of money on my stroller. It's for them but really for me KWIM?

I spend $ on baby clothes...too much actually. I don't get her expensive things, but I get her a lot. Although she never seems to have enough clothes, IMO. Maybe that' because sometimes she'll wear 3 outfits in a day (because of poop).

The thing I have mostly been buying for myself is food. Its horrible. I am so big now, I am really disgusted with myself. I'm bigger now than I was a few months ago, and that wasn't so great.

I always buy for the kids. It's more fun...their clothes always fit!I really need some new clothes but I get frustrated because I don't know what to buy and then when I try things on I get depressed because they don't fit the way I want them to .

Yup, exactly!

Andi, its funny that you mention how its more fun to spend on the kids because their clothes always fit...I realized yesterday I'm actually JEALOUS of my daughter. Not that I want to be her age again lol, but she's young and in good shape (for a baby lol) and fresh and new...and I feel sluggish and tired and gross. But I remember feeling amazing and sexy not too long ago, and I want that feeling again. I want to look good in my clothes again.

But I guess I can't stuff my face full of pizza and cake and get that. Ugh whats wrong with me, I was never THIS undisicplined!

I've bought myself one $7 t-shirt and a pack of underwear since the baby was born. Last week, I bought 3 bottles of Wet N Wild nail polish and felt pangs of guilt! This has been the way of mothers for generations- making sure our offspring look good at the expense of our own wardrobe.
