Those of you who have HE washing machines, how do you like them?
A month ago, our old washer that was only 4 years old, and a top of the line Whirlpool, died on us I loved that washer! I guess I wash too many clothes because it sure didnt last long. Anyway, we were forced to buy a new washer and they apparently make only HE washers now (or so Homedepot says) so we purchased a Maytag HE washer there. Its fine I guess, but I really miss my non-HE washing machine and I just dont see how the HE machine gets the clothes clean I dont like it but I am stuck with it and wondered if you all like your HE machines?

I love my Samsung. I would only buy Samsung Electrolux or LG. The whirlpool Corp pumps out amana, whirlpool, maytag and tons of others. My Samsung will clean anything and very well. HE in itself doesn't make it do a crappy job it's the machines own HE

I have LG front loaders and I love them!
I love all the settings, you can make it use more water if you want. I always click the pre-wash button as well. (When I do cloth diapers I have to do pre-wash, water plus, and extra rinse) You'll get used to it! You might have to play around with laundry detergents depending on how your water is since it's using less now.
I also use these stain release tabs ( Tide Stain Release Duo Pac, Free - Best Price)
You'll also want to get some kind of cleaner for the washing machine and run it through the hottest cycle ever so often. I use the Tide cleaner since it's at Target and easy to get, lol ( Tide Washing Machine Cleaner - Best Price)

I have a Whirlpool Duet Sport that we got 4 years ago. I love it and don't have any issues getting my clothes (or diapers) clean. My only complaint is that we have to replace the rubber seal around the door this Spring because it had mold on it since we didn't know we were suppose to keep the door cracked when not in use. Oops...

We just bought the newest version of the Whirlpool duet and I love it, my clothes come out so much cleaner and softer than my old top loader. I'm still getting used to what settings to put certain things on but I really like it.
About cleaning it you're supposed to do it once a month, my washer starts blinking at me to let me know I need to clean it, except I do so much laundry it only took 3 weeks for it to start blinking at me.

Ours worked well. The only issue was figuring out how many cycles I needed to run to clean cloth diapers.

oh my gosh, I love mine! It actually makes me love doing laundry. Yes, Im serious. LOL
We have this one
And we have the pedistools too, which have a drawer to open, and I love that. Plus it has 12 hour delay start, so I can load it at night, and set a timer to wash at 7am, so when I get up at 8am its ready to be tossed into the dryer. I love that feature. Makes doing laundry less time consuming for me.
After having an HE, I will never go backwards to a regular.
oh and like holly said you need to run a cleaner in it. I do it about every 4 months but I use Amazon.com: Summit Brands WM06N 24 oz Washer Magic Laundry Tub Saver: Home & Garden
I love washer magic and dishwasher magic.

I have the same washer and love it. I also use the same stain release tabs.
I never thought about a cleaner for the washer. The washer is going on 3 years old so I better do that. Thanks, Holly!

I also spray clorox clean up in the pull out drawer (you know where you put fabric softener, etc.) because it gets gunky if you don't clean it....or at least what I was using made it gunky! (It took me a couple of years to realize it)
I HAD to clean it in Texas, I don't know if the humidity makes a difference (or maybe the type of water?) but it would get a funky smell if you didn't!

No, I can still remember when I got mine. I liked the way they looked but it took me a couple of months to figure it out and REALLY love them....the whole not using as much water thing confused me haha

Yeah, my only complaint is that funky smell. So always leave the door cracked after you use the washer.

I am new to HE machines also and I have a question....sometimes the clothes seem almost completely dry after running through the washer. I run them again but I've been wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if the machine isn't working correctly.
Any ideas?

That was one of the first things I noticed also. I just assumed that the spin cycle works real well ?

yes, my clothes always seem pretty dry which makes dryer time even shorter. If I do a "quick" load. I can have them washed and dried in about 45 minutes. Thats a lot quicker then the older non HE washers.

That's my only problem with it also. When we moved into this house the last owner left us stackable front loader washer and dryers. I had no idea about the mold in the washer. Now I run bleach through it twice a month and leave the door open. We didn't replace the rubber, our repair man took it apart and cleaned it for us. We are going to have to replace the entire unit soon though. It's pretty old, all the lettering has worn off. LOL
