Kaileigh hasnt had her binky since 10am nap. She was so tired during afternoon nap she didnt even take it then. She hasnt even needed it in the van!!! It's almost 9 (bedtime) and I plan to not offer it at all. Of course, IF she needs it I will go give it to her but this is exactly how her sister gave it up, but she had just turned one, and hasnt taken it all day.

Im kind of excited! Im so tired of washing binkies. LOL

That's awesome! Leah is a paci addict. It's going to be soooo hard taking that thing away from her. She crawls around looking for it in her sleep if she can't find it in the middle of the night...

Kailiegh is such a smarty

Well, I spoke to soon. She needed it. I laid her down and she screamed for 10 minutes and then I went in there and gave it to her, and she went right to sleep. So I guess my idea now is to do bed time only? I have no idea. She doesnt seem to need it during the day just for bed time.

I really thought she would be ok at bed time but she obviously wasnt. Now I have a feeling it's going to be hard to give it up at bed time for her.

I'm going to take Caleb's away cold turkey on his 1st birthday. I waited until Grace was 2 and it was such a fight.

Ditto!! Oh the lessons we learn with our first baby. I'm still fighting with Ethan over his. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm either going to have to take it away cold turkey or deal with it until the kid starts kindergarten...

Yea, I WILL be taking it at one. I dont like the idea of older babies kids with them, and I know from working with kids for many years, the older they get the harder habits are to break. I just think it will be a struggle at 1, but I plan to still do it. Im not for letting them cry when they need something and honestly I think if I would have gave it more time she would have went to sleep, but I felt guilty because she is "only" 9 months and crying for it

I plan to take it at one too but I don't know how I'm going to. He's so hooked on it. I guess maybe soon I'll try the only at bed time approach? He's just been sooo fussy lately though and it's been the only thing I can give him to soothe him some times so I don't see that going over too well.

With Grace I first tried to have her keep it in her bed. She was only allowed to have it during naps and at bed time. Then I found her sneaking them during the day. I would turn around and she would have one. I fought her for months. Finally one day we were driving down the road and she started screaming because the paci had fallen on the floor. I stopped and fished it off the floor for her. A few minutes later it happened again. I pulled over, took the paci and threw it out the window! Maybe not the best way to react but UGH, I had had enough. When we got home we gathered all her paci's and I had her throw them away because she was a "big girl". It was a hard couple of nights but in two days she was over it. So after fighing it for months going cold turkey got better results in 2 days.

I think my daughter would be fine without hers...I only give it to her for naps and bedtime. Its like an instant calmer so she settles and falls asleep. She never wants one during the day.

The problem is I keep giving her the pacifier because I know it works. I should just bite the bullet and stop. I'm also going to take it away at 1 year. Well, we are moving around then so maybe I should try now.

I allow my kids to have theirs until they're two. I don't think it's a big deal at all. Bella would never take one at all and I wished at the time that she would have because she used me as a binky too. Eli really only takes one when he's fussing to go to sleep.
