Desi had a hard time pooping. poor babu was crying. But when I changed her it really wasnt hard. the past couple days shes had chicken, peas, yesterday she ate all her carrots and shes had mashed potatoes and shes also had pancakes and waffles. not at the same time What could have caused it? I hate when they cry when they cant go.

I hate to say this because it isn't much help but..who know? Babies become constipated from time to time and the answer isn't always that clear. If she's still having problems today you could try giving her a little bit of juice. Poor baby. I would just keep an eye on it and if it continues or gets worst you may have to start eliminating things from her diet to narrow down the cause. On the other hand if it clears up I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Maggie's having a tougher time of it lately too. I'm pushing high fibre stuff as much as I can. And I'm using stool softeners when I have to. Not exlax, but it's stuff my dr gave me when she first came home and we had issues. I also use glycerin suppositories when she needs it. It's usually my first attempt at helping her because it's not hard on her system.

Two things are affecting it for us I think: 1 is teething (we get this from time to time), and the other is that we're transitioning to more meat based proteins and to milk. She's still going every day, but it's very stiff and hard for her to pass.

Poor Desi. I hope you both get a bit of relief from it soon.

Is she eating any fruit? Usually fruit will help them go (except bananas!)

Yeah, that would explain it. Bananas will bind you up (so good during diarrhea). Peaches and applesause will help, along with prunes and pears.

My husband gave my daughter strawberries a few weeks ago...he didn't realize you are "supposed" to wait. But no reaction..and we just gave her some tomato and a citrus fruit (tangelo) today, so hopefully she'll be ok with that too...

Maggie's had strawberries for a long while. I'd just give her her first one when you've got the time to deal with any issues...I'll bet she'll be just fine.

Just thought I'd recommend asking your dr to prescribe something for her constipation...If you need something to refer to, my dr gave me something called lactulose. It helps her so much and it's very gentle.

Stella eats mainly bananas, oatmeal and rice crackers, and she still goes 3 times a day. I think I am giving her too much fiber.

The first time I gave her chicken she got constipated. Also applesauce does it.
