So, Caleb has yet to get into the sitting postition on his own. He's not pulling up into a standing position, he was saying "Da-Da" and once in a while would say "Ma-Ma" but he hasn't said either in weeks.

I'm not even going to say all the things DD was doing and saying at this age... UGH ... anyone else in the same boat or is Caleb the only baby in our PR still not getting into the sitting position?

If I put him the sitting position he will stay there in play...just won't get into it on his own.

He's army crawling (still not lifting his belly off the floor) all over the house but is not trying to pull up to a standing position.

I can't help you with the physical milestone stuff but most days I feel like I'm pulling teeth to try and get him to babble. I've been told boys tend to babble later than girls but it's frustrating. Hopefully our little guys speak up soon!

Vincent still doesn't sit up on his own either. Still no crawling either. He still babbles a lot but doesn't say mama very much anymore. And I don't think he's ever given us a true 'mama' or 'dada' yet.

Noah just started getting into the sitting position by himself but he is not pulling himself up yet. He babbles, but doesn't say a lot of consonant sounds, but my other ds was a late talker too, I know its hard to not compare them but try not to. Also with his eye issues it may take him longer to do certain things. I have a friend IRL who has a son the same age as ds 1 who is legally blind and it took him longer to do a lot of stuff.

My daughter started getting into a sitting position the week before she turned 10 months. She's still not pulling up. Does Caleb "walk" if you hold his hands?

The boys are still army crawling so no sitting on their own either. TJ will crawl on his hands and knees at times, but then goes back to army crawling. TJ is pulling up and cruising a little, but Ty isn't. TJ stands up, but then can't figure out how to sit back down again so he will just fuss and cry until you come to him to move him.

Hugs, Heather! I know it's hard not to worry, but honestly, he sounds like he is doing great to me. It must be hard for you, especially because your DS was so different milestone wise. IMO, I would give it at least another 2 months and see how the crawling/sitting is doing by then.

On our side, Emmett barely babbles...and yeah, I heard more babbling a few weeks ago then I do now.

I just tell myself that all babies are different, but its so hard not to compare. Ethan was cruising & standing-up by himself (w/o holding on to things) at this age. Avery is not even close. She's just a more laid back baby; not nearly as high-strung as Ethan was. I think her developmental milestones seem to match her personality (very go with the flow). Same with Ethan only he is Mr. Independent & wants everything NOW. At this point, I probably wouldn't be too worried about it, but if you're concerned you could always ask your pedi.

This is exactly how my son was compared to Lily. He crawled early, talked early, walked early etc. She's so go with the flow and I get this internal panic almost and then I talk myself out of it--she's perfect. She's just her. She didn't roll from back to belly FOR-EV-ER, then one day --woop over and now there's no keeping her on her back if she doesn't want to be. She army crawled then one day she was up and off on her knees.

As long as they have time of the floor to play and explore, they'll do it when they're ready and becoming ok with that is so hard as a mama.

Try not to worry!

Ditto. We finally have our 9 month appointment this afternoon so I'm going to see what the pedi says. Juliana actually babbled more (and by that I mean said 1 syllable with a consonant) at 5-6 months than she does at 9 months.

No.

At this age Grace was not just walking she was running! She had like 8 words and was climbing up things. UGH. My laid back little boy. I think I'll be lucky if he's walking by 18 months. LOL

My daughter Hope is also not getting into a sitting position on her own. She is also not crawling. She will sit and slide around on her bottom but will not pull up either. Her pediatrician said as long as she is getting around - it's o.k. I had asked about Early Intervention and she thought we didn't need to do that yet. I also have a 3 year old who was doing all this by now too. It is hard to not worry but I am trying hard not to. You are not alone : - )

OMG Heather! Thank you for posting this! Hunter isn't even army crawling. He slides backwards on his belly, and can only pull up with my assistance, or his legs get twisted. I realized we have nothing at a comfortable height for him to pull up on. I now take a couch cushion off and he uses the cushion-less spot b/c its lower to the ground, but doesn't quite have the hang of it yet. He will walk if i hold his hands, but i'm holding firmly and doing all the balancing, and i twist him to encourage him to stick out the next foot. My DD was cruising furniture at a little over 8 mnths! She was walking at 11.5 months!
I'm wondering why he is so delayed compared to her.

I don't know but I'm going to give him one more month to sit up on his own and then I'm making a Doctor's appointment. You hear that Caleb...you're on notice ... 6/4/2011 is your deadline. LOL
