when will you switch your baby into a toddler or big kid bed?

BTDT moms how old were your other kids when they stopped sleeping in the crib?

With the newbie coming this october we decided not to buy another crib and got a great deal on a toddler bed, im just wondering how young is too young to have Ross start sleeping in it. We obviously wont switch him until he is able to safely get out of the bed, but we were thinking around 13-14 months to give him a chance to get used to sleeping in it before the new baby comes.

we usually switch them over at 18 months. by then they are mobile enough to want to climb out of the crib. not sure about doing it sooner than that, I guess it depends on the child.

I didn't switch Lily until she was 2.5 but she was perfectly content in her crib. She never climbed out of it or anything. Do you have a bassinet for the baby? Maybe wait until Ross is 18 months and switch him to the toddler bed and the baby out of the bassinet. I wouldn't purchase another crib either, I would try to switch him after the baby outgrows the bassinet or pack n play.

I will probably put Adeline in a toddler bed around 2 years old.

Bishop I'm unsure when we will. I don't know when we'll be putting him into his room with Dane.

Gage was switched at 14 months, he was ready. Dane switched when we moved into this house so 18/19 months.

We aren't buying a new crib either. We will use the pack n play for the first few months like we did with Rosie and then make the transition when baby is ready to switch to crib. So I would think if it goes like with Rosie then she will be around 18 months. We are skipping the toddler bed I think and going straight to a normal size bed just deciding if we are going single or double right away and frame or no frame.

I remember with Steven, my second born we moved and I wanted to put him in the same room with his brother so I moved him to a toddler bed at about 11 months. Although he never fell off it or anything I wouldn't do that again. It was just a pain in the butt to get him to bed and into a routine with a toddler bed that early. I'd try to aim for 18 months or honestly 2 years is about when we make the switch now.

Eva didn't switch to a toddler bed until she was 3. She liked her crib and never tried to climb out or anything. I'm hoping to switch Isaac to a toddler bed closer to 2.
It will really depend on Ross and whether he is ready or not.

DS1 has never climbed out of his crib to this day, he's still in his crib. But we are switching him to a twin bed this weekend. He just turned 2 in March. But he was ready for a bigger bed a long time ago. We didn't want to do a toddler bed because it's still the same size mattress as a crib and we felt it would have been a waste of money, because in another year he'd be to big for the toddler bed (he's almost to big now). But to each their own. I think 18 months would be a perfect age, but some are ready sooner and some are ready later. And it's all up to the parents.
