So, we just got back from Lyla's nine month appointment. She is 21lbs and 27.5 inches! She is meeting all her milestones but STILL HAS AN EAR INFECTION! We are on Augmentin (sp) now. So, it better clear up!! Also, her pedi said we should still be feeding her the baby cereal for the iron! Lyla has been refusing baby food for quite some time now, so this should be interesting. I think I will just mix it with her yogurt. Anybody still feeding their LO baby cereal?

I'm sorry she still has an ear infection! We have been having a time with those too.

Personally I wouldn't worry much about feeding her cereal. I'm guessing she is eating a lot of finger foods now? Lots of other things have iron in them.

Sorry that she still has an ear infection. Hope it clears up this time.
I haven't given Miranda cereal in a while. She didn't really care for it so much.
If your feeding her Iron fortified formula that should be enough, no? Unless you are breastfeeding.

Colby still eats cereal several days a week but what I do is mix it with chunky fruit puree/applesauce and leave it pretty dry and lumpy because he like texture better. Oatmeal and peaches is his favorite. Mixing it with yogurt is nice too.

Brendan loves his oatmeal, so he gets it every morning for breakfast mixed with a fruit.
Have you tried giving Lyla one of the different cereals? Brendan thought the rice was boring but loves the oatmeal and the mixed grain one.

I 2nd mixing it with fruit or yogurt. A lot of babies seem to like it better this way.
I hope her ear infection clears up SOON! Every time I have been on Augmentin it has cleared up my sickness almost immediately, I hope it does the same for Lyla.

Lyla is on formula that has iron so I'll try the cereal (she prefers the oatmeal!) and if she won't eat it, I'm not going to freak out. She eats everything we eat and she should get iron from the veggies and meats. Fingers crossed for the ear infection.

On a side note: I mentioned in another post that I have an ear infection also. I went for my re-check this afternoon and was given Augementin also! The pharmacist thought it was pretty funny when I filled our prescriptions!!

I hope Lyla's ear infection clears up soon. Poor baby she must be miserable.

As for cereal Tommy doesn't like it much, so we don't give it to him. I would try other kinds as others suggested with fruits mixed in.

Ps..I hope your ear infection clears up too...

I've never heard that you need to give cereal for the iron before. I don't know. I know I'm not giving baby cereal. Natalie won't eat it and there are just too many other ways to give iron. I think that's silly. Just my two cents.

Sorry she still has an ear infection! That stinks.

I give Joey oatmeal every morning with fruit. I thought they were supposed to continue eating cereal?? I haven't given him eggs yet and he is not good with many finger foods.

I hope both your ear infections clear up! That must be what was causing Lyla's crying at bedtime then?

I'm hoping it's the ear infection causing the nighttime crying! Once that is cleared up she'll go back to sleeping through the night, RIGHT???

my doctor said to continue w/ the cereal for the iron even tho he takes the formula
he loves the flavored ones, we either give him the rice with bananas or the oat with mixed fruit - still looks like regular cereal just doesnt taste as bad
