Who still has to do it? What is your one baby proofing item you must have?

I have not done any baby proofing yet!!! I have to get a gate up this weekend since Tommy is starting to get into everything!!!!

I actually have 2 things I must have and that is the electrical outlet covers and the thing that keeps the toilet seat down. When my dd was about 1.5-2, I found her playing in the toilet with a wash cloth and basically taking a bath in it. She was taking the wash cloth and pouring the toilet water over her head!!! I was so grossed out (even though the water was clean). Now I look back and laugh. But at that moment I was so upset.

All we have at the moment is the outlet covers and IMO DH has gone overboard with them..lol I mean do we really need them in certain rooms when 1 she can't reach them and 2 we are never in there the door stays closed 99% of the time the way it is..lol
We do need a gate but have yet to find one that will fit. They are always sold out. so for now we have the ottoman in the door way and on laundry day (which is daily) baskets blocking another entrance as well as her rocker blocking the path behind the couch...lol
But for the most part the baskets will be disappearing soon since DH has moved his stuff and she can be there..lol

I've put the gates up already and we have our electrical outlets covered from our other kids. Those would be the 2 must haves.

I am in desperate need of a gate but like you Tanya I can't find one big enough for the opening from my dinning room to my living room. They are always sold out.

I am crazy with the outlet covers too, when dd was little I would bring them with me everywhere...lol. My moms house was even covered in them.

Yeah if we could block the stairs themselves it wouldn't be to bad. But we can't block the dog up there...lol. She would cry way to much if she couldn't get up and down at free will..lol

we have all the outlets within baby range covered, we need to pick up some things to stop him from opening the cupboards as hes just figured out how to do that, though usually we are in the living room and there is nothing for him to get into, and if we are in another room he is well supervised

we also have baby gates to keep the living room enclosed (we have an open concept main floor)

Me, well a lot of things are baby proofed already, but I got out the baby gate and finally put it up today. I need a new one though because this one is one that needs to be screwed in. I bought the wrong kind. (This one I got for the dog.) Anyhow, for the moment it is up, but needs to be screwed in correctly or I need to get another one. Natalie keeps crawling up the stairs though so it had to go up! We have wooden stairs and that would be bad, bad, bad if she fell.

We just started doing this a couple weeks ago, since he can crawl lightning fast now. We have the outlet things in and we have the cabinet locks but DF is yet to install them! I guess they are kind of a PITB, though, we got the cheapo ones. We don't have stairs so no need for a gate. The furniture is pretty much secure and the doors to the bathroom and our bedroom stay closed all the time.
