So, I was just sitting here thinking (dazed in dreamland eating lunch) and noticed the PR's scrolling sig thingy. I got to thinking about the names of your Aug '10 babies and am curious about how you came up with them. I would probably know why if I'd have been here during our pregnanies. So, I'm asking now:

What was the thought process that lead to your Aug '10 baby's name?

Stretten was orignially going to be Ridge, then latter decided I liked Stratten, Stratten stuck until I was about 7months pregnant, and I had a very vivid dream of me laying in the hospital bed holding a baby boy who I named Stretten, told dh about it the next day, and he was like it sounds like an infection and like Strep lol, so I just assumed whatever lol he didn't like it, then I hear him telling his mom that HE came up with the name Stretten and like it! I was like NO *I* had the dream and asked you and you made fun of it! lol, so then he was like well whoever came up with it it's growing on me so it stuck but we call him Strettie 90% of the time lol and his middle name is Michael and got that from my dad

Well, dh and I can not agree on boy names what so ever. The only name we could agree on was Thomas and since dh is a 3rd we figured we would keep with tradition. My dad is also a Thomas so we have a bunch of Tommy's around here. It a traditional boys name and it has grown on me. At first I couldn't picture him as a Tommy but now I wouldn't see him as anyone else. So his official name is Thomas Edward Latimer IV...sounds like a prince or something....we he is my prince...lol

So, as soon as i announced that i was having a boy many people close to me expected me to name Sam after my father, Shawn. (My father passed away when i was 8.) However, i never really liked the idea of naming a child directly after someone, it just isn't my thing. I wanted a name that when spoken i didn't picture anyone other than my child. (Plus at that time i was an acquaintance of a real slimeball named Sean) But, i did want to honor my father when naming my son...so i wanted a name that started with S. I like unique names, but Kevin doesnt like "weird" names. I had long likes Samuel because i think it's a strong name. When i ran it past Kevin he said he liked it also, well he likes Sam, so it was agreed upon.
Sam's middle name is Eriksen, which is my last name. I never knew my fathers side, so my mothers father was the only grandfather i knew. I loved him very much and was always very proud of my viking roots so i wanted to honor him...his name was Leonard (at the moment i can't remember his middle name...i think it was Meyer... anyway it was a no go), we tossed around the idea of having Leonard as his middle name but we decided we like Eriksen (his last name) better.
So, his full name is Samuel Eriksen Scott.
(long story eh? lol)

Nathan was just a name we liked before I even got pregnant. His middle name is Christopher after my husband.

We always try to pick names that aren't very common but not too strange and they have to be easy to pronounce for my parents. I really liked the name Miranda. It was actually a name of a character from a Xbox game DH played.

Lyla is named for DHs Great Grandmother Lela. We liked that it is in honor of her but not her exact name. Lyla's middle name is Jean which is my middle name after my Grandmother.

We liked Isabel originally, but it was one of the most popular names in 2010!!

Kisty- Believe it or not, I remember that whole name situation from TWW.. LOL I was noticing in your siggy the other day for the first time that Brecken and Stretten seem to be neat spin-offs of your DH's name. Cool I know it's early but do you have any names in mind for #3?

Kristy- I like the name Tommy I also like how much his name sounds like royalty!

Sara- My cousin's name is Samuel and I've always liked it. It does sound very strong. It was on our nameslist but DH was only lukewarm to it.

Lori- Nathan was on our nameslist too! I liked it more than DH did though.

Bree- We named our middle child after his uncle who's deceased "Joseph". I had a crush on a little boy named Ross all through grade school

Trish- I like Miranda. It's classy. Our middle child's middle name is actually derived from "Theo" of the Cosby show bc we watched that a lot during my pg with him and DH out of the blue says "I want DS's mn to be Theodore". It's not AFTER Theo Hugstible but he got the idea from the show. Actually, our next DS (If we get one) will be named from an actor of a show we like. Not bc of the actor but bc we just like the name and had never heard it before then. So, I def KWYM

Crystal- I like Lyla Jean. Reminds me of Marilyn Monroe ( Norma Jean)

Heidi got her name from DH liking the book "Heidi". It was even on our nameslist for DS before we found out he was a he.

'Camellia' came about during the third trimester when I was frantically trying to come up with something. I found a treehugger babynames site and Camellia was on it. DH said "that's the one!" The day I told my mom I was pg, we went to a flower park and the camellias were still in bloom even though it was April 1st (yes, I told my mom on April fools day LOL) The camellias were also the first flowers we saw when entering the park. I took a few maternity shots with the camellias. The even funnier thing is that we were team green so it was hard to not take the camellia incident as a sign that it's a girl.

Rosie Jo is for my Great Grandma. Jo is from DH's Great Grandma only shortened as people called her Josie. So Rosie Josie just wasn't working for me..lol

I knew when my great grandma died that if I ever have a little girl I would use her name. Because at her funeral we found out that her real name was Rosie. Everyone thought all these years that it was Rose and people just called her Rosie. Even her own son thought that..lol

This one we are at a complete loss if we have a girl..lol

Bishop was originally going to be Cole. We wanted a 4 letter 1 syllable name to go with our other two, Gage and Dane. Days before we found out (about 2) I knew Cole wasn't the right name. It just wasn't it. I brought it up to the husband and we decided to think it out. I came across Bishop on a baby name website and just casually mentioned it to my husband. I thought he'd hate it but he instantly loved it like I did. So we talked about it and well, he's bishop haha. We still love the name Cole, I just knew it wasn't for him.

eta - Bishop's middle name is Theodore after my grandfather. His middle name was Theodore and first name was Harold. Everyone called him Ted though. So since my husband got his way with giving our son Dane his dads middle name (Valentine) he agreed to give Bishop my choice of a middle name.

My grandfather's name is Jack (well, it's technically John, but everyone calls him Jack) and DF and I have always liked the name Jackson. That's about it I know it's popular now but I liked it years ago before it was popular. His middle name, Matthew, is DFs name.

Natalie was named after she was born. We had absolutely no names picked out before birth and didn't know if she was a boy or a girl. We just kind of looked at her and tried to find names that we both agreed upon and that fit her. We went back and forth between Natalie Cara and Cara Natalie. I still think both names fit her, but we settled on Natalie Cara.

We always liked the name Isaac but it was a little too popular for my taste. But, the meaning of names is really important to me so it was the meaning that really did it for me. Isaac means laughter which is a good meaning but it's the biblical story of Isaac that got me. In the bible, Isaac is Abraham's promised son that God blessed him with. After our Eli died and we got pregnant again with another little boy we felt that he was our promised son that God was blessing us with and so Isaac just seemed so appropriate.

Marissa- I really like the name Bishop, I'm not sure what it is about the name I like so much and of course I love Theodore !

Aimee- I much prefer Jack over John. Do you ever call Jackson, Jack? I like both.

Teresa- From her photo it looks very much like Natalie was the perfect choice. Very pretty!

Noworries- That is such a good story behind Issac's name meaning. It is perfect.

Once in a while we do, but not often. Funny cause I just kind of assumed he would be a "Jack" but he looks more like a Jackson to me. When he is older he can decide if he wants to use a nickname

We had a hard time with picking a girls name.. We would go back and forth on so many names.. My DH was very in love with the name Adeline, I liked it but it wasn't my favorite at the time.. I had many other names at the top of my list. We always planned to use Louise as the middle name after my grandmother so I thought it was only right to go with DH's top pick for first name. So on our way to our gender ultrasound I looked at him and told him if it was a girl we would name her Adeline Louise. I of course grew to love the name and can't imagine her being named anything else!

COLBY SCOTT SHUBERT GRAY

For starters, Cole was my favorite name but I just couldn't name name him Cole Gray. I know it's not really a real color, but it just feels like a crayon. And I had a long list of names that I liked but DH didn't like anything. He seriously vetoed everything but would not come up with anything on his own. I came across Colby on a name website (and we were also watching Survivor and Colby Donaldson was on it lol) and I just loved it plus is was reminiscent of Cole. DH said he "liked" it which was a first and that was it, good enough for me. I kept bugging DH daily until he agreed.

Scott is his middle name and is DH's middle name as well as my Dad's middle name.

His second middle name is Shubert which is my maiden name. I added Shubert as my second middle name when I got married and I plan for all my future children to have 4 names.

I think Colby really fits him BUT I'm already getting really tired of people thinking I named him Kobe. My standard line is "no, not like the (rapist) basketball player, it's with an L, like the cheese". I've had so many "C.O.L.B.Y." "Oh, OK, Kobe" "No! With an L" "Oh, OK, Kobe" conversations. I mean, really, I don't think it's that difficult to pronounce.

It's not hard to pronounce! People are so silly. P.S. I like Colby a lot
