Juliana has been crawling for 2 days now, but only backwards. She's been scooting and inch-worming backwards for a couple of months but this is actually crawling in the cross pattern with her tummy off of the ground. I thought yesterday that surely in another day or so she'd go forward, but not yet. This is the oddest thing. I mean, it's not like she can see something she wants and go backward after it. Has anyone else's baby gone through this phase? Hopefully in just a few more days she'll get the hang of going forward.

I'm no help because Vincent just started scooting backwards recently. I wonder if he'll do it for months like Jules did before crawling. I'd be thrilled with backwards crawling at this point! It does sound unusual but cute! I'm sure she'll figure out how to reverse it soon.

Totally normal It can take a while for them to figure out which way makes them go forward when they start crawling.

Scarlett had a weird crawl at first too. And she wouldn't crawl very far. Now she sprints around the house.

That's exactly how Luca started crawling, he crawled backwards for like 2 weeks before he mastered going forwards. And both my boys could walk backwards in their walkers before they figured out forwards too. Weird!!

Haha, that sounds ADORABLE actually!! She knows where she wants to go, she just hasn't coordinated everything yet.

My daughter just started...scooting? I guess. Well, she'll be on one knee like she wants to crawl, and then she'll be on one foot, as if she wants to stand. So majorly awkward and very slow and sometimes she'll go forward and sometimes backwards, and sometimes she plunks down. I call it progress.
