Did your dr's recommend rear facing until they are 2+ when you went for your 9 month appt?

Ty just had his 9 month appt today, and his pedi said to keep him rear facing until he is at least 2 years old (duh! LOL) but I was pleased my dr happened to mention it

My Dr. never mentioned anything about car seats. I'm going to keep him rear-facing as long as possible.

My Dr never said specifically that I HAVE to do it but did mention the new recommendations and gave me a sheet all about it. So I thought that was nice. Rather then jump down a parents throat he just give's the information and lets them make that decision, which I already planned to keep her RF until 2 anyways. I love our pedi <3

My Pedi didn't mention it, but it was on our little handout at our 9 mo appt. I think my Pedi takes for granted that I'm a pediatric nurse, and just expects me to know everything, lol. Which is far from the truth, every child is so different.

She didn't mention it at all and we don't get handouts but we already planned on RFing him as long as possible.

hahaha Heather!

And, no, but I'm convinced our multiple pedis at our clinic are morons. I don't really care. If I ever suspect E has a problem, we'll get referred to a specialist. So I go to appointments for fun.

Mine never said a word about it. I plan to anyway, though.

Honestly, I don't remember... I was more concerned with the never-ending-ear-infection. I probably didn't pay attention b/c I had already purchased a convertible carseat that RFs to 40 lbs.

Same, I was surprised (but happy) that it was on the handout! I will have Sophie RF until she is too heavy (not to be mistaken with too big/too tall) to do it anymore.

Mine did. Although of course it's to 12 months old here not 2 y/old. She was stoked with me for not having turned Luca at his 8 month old appointment, so I guess waiting is really not the norm.

I think it's wonderful that pedi's are educating parents on the possibility and benefits to keeping your child RF until 2! That makes me very happy. Now if they just had mini sessions to ensure each new parent was properly buckling their baby in the seat!

I will keep Ethan rear facing as long as I can. My gf is a real big rear facing, car safety advocate and I get most of my information and statistics from her. So he will prob. stay rear facing as long as possible. We bought the Graco MyRide 65 just for that reason...they can supposedly stay rear facing longer in it than some other car seats.
