Leah put herself to sleep two nights in a row!! It used to take 20 minutes of rocking and music to get her to go to sleep, and after that I ran the risk of her waking up when I would try to put her in the crib quietly.

My new routine: I'll give her love and hugs and rocking for about 2-5 minutes. Then I lay her down in the crib; asleep or not. I walk out of the room, and she may cry or whimper for a little while. No longer than 5 minutes (no tears involved), and she'll eventually lay herself back down and go to sleep.

It makes me want to cry because she's growing up, but this has been a long time coming. I'm happy

Awesome! Does she sleep right through? Wyatt goes to sleep on his own - lay him in his crib awake and he puts himself asleep. When he wakes during the night...that's another story. I don't know what to do!

I'm so jealous. Well, Avery goes to bed pretty easily... it's the staying asleep that's the problem.

That is excellent. Your initial routine matches exactly what we've been doing. I have been trying your latest one, and it isn't going as well as you described. LOL. I let him cry a little b/c he's just wanting attention. I just need him to be able to get himself to sleep before my Mom takes over watching my kids in the daytime. She'll also be watching my 2yo nephew and 3yo neice. Thats 4 kids under 4, and she can't leave the 3 oldest downstairs while she takes a half hour putting H down for a nap!!! I'm so worried.

Congrats though Mama! To you and Leah!!!

She slept the best she has ever slept!! She went down at 9ish and didn't wake up til 8:15...that's almost 12 hours! I had to keep checking on her bc I was so shocked she was still asleep. I could not be happier or better rested right now. Not to rub it in or anything
