Moving!

As some of you have seen on my facebook we've been having a lot of issues with our house and the company that runs base housing here. We've been fighting mold, foundation, and structural issues and they're refusing to fix any of it (or move us to a different house) so we decided to move into an apartment off base for our last year here. Our current plan is to move June 6th so I probably won't be around much between now and then. I can't wait to get out of here!

I hope all is going well with everyone, I'll try and drop in when I can!

Can you get on base housing when you PCS? (assuming that is what you mean by your "last year here")

I'm glad you're moving somewhere better! Mold is horrible for babies. Good luck with the move.

Yeah, we're PCSing next May. We're going to try for Virginia (where he could most likely stay for the rest of his career) and buy a house. After all our issues here and in Florida (his last station) we are NEVER going to live in housing again. I'm sick of playing these games.

YAY!! We're about to PCS as well, but since it's only for a year and it's a really expensive area we're gonna live on base. I pray it's better than the company here, Picerne.

That sucks you had so many problems with them! Have you filed formal complaints? Cause those usually get seen by base/wing commanders and they do care!

It's Balfour Beatty so I'm really hoping you have a better experience.

Liz, we have filed a formal complaint and the Navy housing office said that we do have a serious problem and they can fix it for us but it will take quite a while of paperwork and red tape. I've been having serious issues with my asthma for months and this has gone on for the 3 years we've been here and it's just not worth the fight anymore.
