I know this has nothing to do with our babies, except that they create laundry My washer died this morning I'm really not that sad, because it wasn't a great one, but this really isn't an ideal time to have to buy a new one. The dryer has been making weird noises lately, too, so I think we're probably just going to replace them both. What do you have? What features are important to you? Any recommendations about what to buy or what not to buy?

THanks in advance...there are so many choices out there that I'm overwhelmed.

I love my front loaders LGs
However if had to do it over again I would get top loaders without the thing in the middle (mind blank)

Reasons why would be I hate having to leave my door open for it to dry out.
I like being able to open up and toss something in when I forget.

Outside of those two reason. I love my front loaders and the ability to wash more clothes as well as being able to wash our king size blankets.

Oh and I would buy the pedestals if you go that route because the bending over kills me..lol

The models without the agitator in the middle haven't gotten great reviews. I think it was replaced with a disk on the bottom but clothes get stuck in it.

I've not owned a front loader but have had used them for a few months while on vacation...I hated it! I felt my clothes didn't get as clean, the smell if you didn't keep it open/dry was gross, and it felt like I couldn't do the same size loads as I can my top loader. I also didn't like how water dripped on the floor every time the door was opened.

I really like my top loader (Whirlpool). I wish I could get a bigger size but I think I have the largest out there.

my brother has a washer without the aggitator in the middle and his clothing came out in knots ... he had to un-tie his socks from each other.. and jeans .. and everthing.. and that stretched them out ... he bought it brand new and ended up getting a new front loader a few month later ....

I have a love hate relationship with my frontloader...... you can wash more laundry beacuse they come out slightly damp because it spins them so well ...it takes about 30 minutes to dry and average load and i dry our clothes on low heat

negitaves about a front loader
-- i have had no luck washing any rugs... like my bathroom rugs or a small runner ... it throws off the drum (because it's contantly turning and falling and you cant re-balance the rugs) and makes a horrible banging noise

--- they smell i gues because they are always wet .
Now i guess i am going to have to try keeping the door open.... ugh .

Thanks for all the responses! I am still reading reviews and pricing online, but I need to make a decision so they can deliver them soon...Claire has had 2 out-of-diaper incidents today

Good to know about the top loaders..lol

I got ours at Best Buy for 900 a piece. They aren't fancy by any means like the steam ones but over all I am very happy with mine.
