Are there any special traditions you plan do to? Do you decorate? If you do, do you decorate for all holidays or only a few?

I plan do to the typical traditions:
Easter- Easter egg hunt, a basket from the Easter Bunny.
Independence Day- Go to see fireworks.
Halloween- Go to the orchard for a hayride and pumpkin, Trick or Treating.
Christmas- Go to pick out an ornimate at Bronners, go for a drive to look at the local Christmas lights, and the stocking won't be filled and there will be no presents under the tree from Santa or Dad and i until the morning of.

I will likely also do a craft and make sweets on/for all holidays.

I plan to decorate for all the holidays even the minor ones. (i've been getting 50 and 75% off decorations after the holidays.)

Valentines day- Craft and maybe something with homeschool co-op.
Easter- Egg dying and Easter egg hunt.. no Easter bunny.
Independence Day- Sparklers and fireworks at home. Maybe cook out.
Halloween- Prior to: Pumpkin patch for photos, pony ride, face paint, balloon animal, and other crafts. On Halloween trick or treating.
Thanksgiving- Home w/family. TURKEY-YUM!
Christmas- No tree but Christmas eve and/or day w/family. Make as many gifts as possible. Stocking, but not doing Santa.

We will do the usual things, I"m sure. It should be more fun next year when he will be more aware of what is going on and can have more fun with the holidays. He is our first so prior to him, we had no traditions.

I go back and forth on if i want to do the fantasy aspects of the holidays (Easter Bunny, Santa...) However my df very much wants to do them and my mother pushes it also, and we currently live with her and likely will for several more years at least.

My DH doesn't like any holidays for philosophical reasons (the commercialization) but we touch the surface of the holidays for the kids amusement. We talk about the 'spirit' of Santa though and they know not to ruin any other children's beliefs. The policy is pretty much to not make too big of a deal about any holiday and to keep it all in perspective and laid back and all in good fun. It works for us.
