Have any of you done this yet? Do you think it makes a difference if baby is formula or breastfed? When do you feel like you'll be able to do this if you haven't already.

I have a cousin with a not quite 3 month old who leaves her son overnight with his grandmother several nights a week so that she can babysit when my cousin is at work during the day. I just can't imagine doing this, even though I'm sure she wouldn't if she had any alternative. I still haven't left Ellie overnight and we still co-sleep so even if she eats in the night, I'm not really awake for it. I do think that we're probably going to leave her overnight with DH's parents when the last Harry Potter movie comes out because I'd like to go to the midnight showing opening night.

I haven't left Isaac overnight yet (heck, I haven't left him for more than a few hours). He's still breastfed and won't take a bottle so he can't be away from me for that long. And I would freak out anyway. I think my daughter was about 2 years old before she spent the night away from me (at grandma and grandpas). Actually, that's not true, she was 20 months old when Eli was stillborn and she spent the night at my sister's house that night.

I still haven't left Nathan. My daughter was 21 months old when we left her over night for the first time. she stayed at her grandparent's house. the only reason we let her go was because we got married and we were staying in a hotel for 2 nights.

the last time she stayed over anywhere was when Nathan was born.

Ive never left Ross overnight, if the new baby is born in the night that will be the first time he will be without us, but im hoping baby will make an appearance early in the day, so i wont have to, my hospital will let you go as early as 4 hours after the birth so long as there are no complications

I have had to. Having all four wisdom teeth cut out and then I just had surgery to have my gallbladder removed. Both surgeries I've been so doped up on pain meds. And with this last surgery I've been terribly sore and not able to hold her. She's been away from me for 3 nights as of today. I'm not sure whether she will come home with me tonight. It's depressing me that I can't take care of my baby. I definately would not have left her like this if it wasn't for the surgeries.

I haven't left him yet...Brecken was almost 11 months, and that was just b/c I was having Stretten...Brecken has only stayed a few nights away, and it's just with grandparents and it's maybe once every 6months lol it takes constant begging from them before I finally say ok...I let him just the other night b/c I had m/c and thought I'm sure I was boring him and thought he needed to have some fun since I've been sad so let my mom keep him and take him all over the place...I figure once Stretten is 11+ months I'll let him (just with grandparents or his aunts) but with him being a HUGE mommy's boy i'm sure I'd get a call to come get him hahaha

I have not and I don't see it happening for quite a while. He is still nursing and has never taken a bottle, and doesn't drink much out of a sippy. He also has extreme separation anxiety and can't be left with anyone else (besides me or DF) because he has only seen his grandparents/aunts a handful of times in his life. I am hoping this changes when he gets a little older because even just a few hours off would be a nice, never mind a whole night! I know I would go crazy missing him though.

I haven't left Holden overnight yet. I know he would be just fine overnight with someone else but I just haven't had a situation where I needed a whole night for myself.

I haven't left Claire yet...it stresses me out to think about it! DH and I might leave her with my Mom so we can go out and celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary later this summer, though. We could use some "alone" time
