The newest cut to my local school is busings, next year there will be no busing. Have you heard of any cut's to your public school system? Are you children in public schools? Do the cuts to the school budget make you consider homeschooling?

I havent heard of any cuts, but then again Ross is my oldest and hes not near school aged yet. I do know they have closed several school and there is some over crowding in all the remaining schools, its particularly bad in our district, and as of right now i can say that my kids will not attend a public school until we move to a better school district, I dont know if i will home school or opt for a private school

The elementary school that was right next to us was closed and now all the kids that would go there have to go to a school a few miles away. The other elementary school isn't big enough for all the kids so they have moved 5th grade to the middle school. I am not pleased. 5th graders are way too little to be mixing with 7th and 8th graders IMO. Supposedly they keep them separated but I'm not buying that, especially since they will be riding on the bus together. Starting in kindergarten I'll be trying to get my kids into the Montessori charter school.

My kids are in private school so I rarely pay attention to the public schools. I can't imagine them ever cutting buses out here - people would go nuts. I haven't heard
Of anything lately.

I'd def homeschool if private wasnt an option - our publics aren't great around here.

Not in the district my kids will go to I haven't heard anything. In a town a few miles away they were talking about cutting out an Elementary school.

I couldn't imagine cutting out buses completely. Maybe to those who are within a certain walking distance but what about families like me? We're a 1 car house hold, my husband works and we are 9 miles from the school. We'd be screwed.

I am a county bus driver for our schools and were not cutting anything as far as stopping buses or closing schools. Mostly letting people go and not refilling their positions.

i cant imagine no buses, that county will surely fail

we have had huge budget cuts in NJ. Luckily on our district many teachers took early retirement so we havent lost any teachers yet. Middle school sports were cut last year. They cut a K class the beginning of the year and then had to reinstate it in october or november. There were 28kids in 1 K class. Now dd has only 20 kids in her class. PreK was cut to half day, last year it was full day.
Homeschooling is not an option for us. we would go private first.
