Rosie had her apt. yesterday and I really dislike her Ped. She is so out there like airhead almost. She walked in yesterday and DH was playing on the floor with Rosie and she sees Rosie is standing and we are going over the questionnaire they give us to see where she is at with gross motor skills and all that. And then it was like once that was over she repeats the same questions over. Like is she standing, walking around furniture, crawling and so on. Is she clapping as you look at Rosie and see she is clapping at that very moment. I mean really I get repeat questions I am sure she sees a lot of people but they were like really your going to ask that as you see she has been doing it pretty much the whole time we have been in here.

Then she asked the classic how is she sleeping which my standard is good. Then she proceeds to go into baby tantrums. She goes just ignore them and by the way how are you planning on discipline? Really didn't know that was her business as long as we aren't abusing her KWIM. My reply was DH and I are on the same page and we got that part taken care of. Just really annoyed me. She is older so I do understand older generation thinking and stuff like that but still.

Anyways Rosie is doing good.
She weighs 18.9lbs 28 inches long (although I think DH wasn't holding her all the way to the top so he might have given her an extra inch or two..lol) and her head was 43. something. All and all she was in the 25%-50% tiles for her age.

And then last night she took one step. Its starting, she is getting more gutsy..lol So DH is convinced she will be walking by the time he gets home next month. I'm not ready for that yet...lol

Is it possible to get a different pediatrician?

Sounds like Rosie is doing perfectly.

Way to go Rosie!! These babies are going to be running around soon.

I don't get why the dr. would even ask questions about discipline. None of their business IMO. Even sleep habits....really they can tell me whatever they like, unless they are dealing with the child it's all talk. And no, they do not always know best.

I am going to see about switching her. But also they have the WBC separate from the actual Ped Clinic so who I am seeing I think is just by chance it has been the same lady both times. So not even sure who her actual Ped is because for any other issues I would take her to the actual Ped Clinic and see someone else anyways..lol

In most cases I tend to let things roll off my back and take what they say with a grain of salt and be done with it. But yesterday just really put me off. Like with the sleeping thing, I mean I get in some areas its probably to see if something else could be going on however once a person says its good do we really need to go into how at this age she should be doing this and that at night. But yeah the whole tantrum and discipline thing really was just like um 1) she is 9months old, and 2) what does this have to do with anything.

My child throws tantrums however at this point in the game I see it more as a way of communicating new found frustration and anger with things then an actual tantrum.

I don't see how you discipline has anything to do with her...I would request someone else next time.

Yay that Rosie will be walking in no time and a double yay for a great check up.

Glad Rosie is well. The sleep & tantrums & parenting stuff is also a pet peeve of mine. It drives me nuts when doctors give out advice like it's a medical opinion. Parenting advice is a personal choice and I don't like when doctor's make you feel like it's not. Sorry your doctor is such a bubble brain.
