Graham crackers-YES, Boob milk- Yes, Hot dogs-hmmmm...We dont eat hot dogs often maybe 4x a year and Im very anti-hot dogs for young kids/babies. I still cut Kaitlyn's up in 1/4's and she's 4 but if your ok with it, thats all that matters.

I try not to give Ethan hotdogs because of the sodium content. Avery hasn't had them yet & I may try to avoid introducing her to them. She likes turkey burger & chicken & beans, so I figure all of those are healthier sources of protein.

Occassionally Ethan decides that chicken only exists in nugget form. Very frustrating. He'll look at normal chicken & tell me "I don't like it". Funny... he ate it 2 days ago just fine. I only buy the baked nuggest from Purdue. I tell myself that's better, but ugh, I don't know. Honestly, I find feeding my kids to be one of the more frustrating aspects of raising them. I'm so worried about creating bad eating habits, but I also think that Ethan needs to eat something & if chicken nuggets are the only thing he'll eat then I don't know what else to do. Sorry... not trying to hijack.

Yeah, I don't care about the hot dogs too much nutritionally. I either buy Kosher hot dogs or turkey dogs that are low fat. They are surprisingly not too bad for you! (In my opinion).

Yes, I cut them up of course.

I am impressed that he can eat hot dogs! (I'm also impressed that he has like a FULL SET of teeth almost when he smiles, haha)

Sophie loves cereal bars. Earth's Best has a toddler one and they aren't messy at all, but I gave her a TJ's one and it was like someone painted her with fruit filling.

Everytime I give her graham crackers she claps, I don't know why LOL (I guess she REALLY likes them!)

Hot dogs are a secret favorite food of mine. I seriously just told DH last night, "I can't wait for grilled hot dogs" haha

OT - I dropped 1/2 a grilled chicken breast in the food processor two nights ago and gave the shreds to Sophie, she LOVED that. I also shredded some cheese (she says "CHEE!" haha) with it.

haven't tried hot dogs yet ....but i"m having a hard time. Sydney is SO picky! Loves fruit of any kind - but veggies are much harder. She loves cheerios, crackers (Earth's Best ones shaped like Elmo ..gawd, she loves them!), yogurt, kraft dinner. I can't feed her KD every day - she would devour it, but so not healthy!

Maybe I'll try turkey dogs or something. Ugh.

Just keep offering foods for him to try. My Dr. says it sometimes takes 10 or more "tries" before they decide they like it.
I am way more relaxed about food this time around. I see fruits and vegetables equally. As long as he has at least one fruit or vegetable with his meal, I'm happy. Secretly, I love when DD went to daycare. I always knew she was getting good, balanced meals so at dinner time I didn't worry too much!

Have you tried making your own nuggets? I cut up boneless chicken breasts and coat them in Shake 'n Bake and call them chicken nuggets.

I was also wondering about the hot dogs. We had a BBQ play date last weekend and someone left a whole package of hot dogs. They're not turkey, just regular hot dogs. I suppose I could give Juliana no more than 1/4 per day and spread it out over weeks. I don't think the fat is all that bad for babies at this age, but saturated fat and sodium aren't great.

I haven't tried hot dogs yet, but Noah eats pretty much anything you put in front of him except for food designed especially for babies.

My kids love chicken nuggets and have been wanting to make my own.

My kids love hot dogs but I struggle with the idea of serving them. Anyone know which brand is nitrate free? I think that would make me feel better about their addiction.

Kellen lives on Cheerios, baby fruit, pizza, pieces of cheese, bread, anything we put on his tray in general, and ogranic formula. I'm on a big organic kick lately but it is so expensive. I also still throw some of the processed foods in there like th kraft mac n' cheese, etc. There's really no rhyme or reason to my maddness.

Kenna is not picky. She'll eat anything. Last night she gobbled up steamed broccoli and rotisserie chicken like it was candy

I think what Shannon is referring to is that hotdogs and popcorn are not recommended for babies and young toddlers because of the choking hazard. They both are the number 1 things small children choke on. I would not give Kenna hotdogs and she chews like a champ, Riley DID choke on one once and we had to do the Heimlich and it almost wouldn't come out (why it's such a huge choking hazard, same with popcorn, they don't just POP right out with the Heimlich)

Lol if hes happy then I'm sure its fine. Kids are so picky about what they eat, most of the time its just control. Both older kids have gone through phases and sometimes they have days when they decide they hate what I'm trying to feed them. I just say ok thats fine but thats all your getting, it usually works

Matthew loves the Trader Joe's nitrate free hotdogs. I take the "skin" off and cut them into pea size pieces. He also loves TJ's Apple Walks Into A Bar. He speed crawls to me when he hears me open the wrapper! He's also a big fan of steamed broccoli and most steamed veggies. Still trying to avoid dairy b/c every time I try it he seems to have a mild reaction. I'm a big Trader Joe's fan, since most everything there is relatively healthy or chemical free.

Huge TJ's fan here too! My only complaint about the cereal bars are that they so much more messy than the Earth's Best ones. Our faves are the Blueberry and Strawberry ones! I feel like I am always at TJ's because it's the closest grocery store to our house and I'm lazy....ha

Me (and Sophie) are huge fans of their dairy-free, gluten-free toaster pancakes.

Charlotte eats anything. She will eat cheeseburgers (i just hand her half of a burger & she eats it bite by bite), bbq'd ribs (cut/shredded), hotdogs (i just cut into "coins" & then cut those in half, i leave the skin on), lunch meat , mashed potatoes, french fries (homemade mostly, reg & sweet potato), cooked veggies (carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, etc.), cucumbers (diced sans skin), chicken, pastas, tortillas, pancakes, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, shrimp, clam chowder, crab, waffles, yogurt, strawberries, crackers, pretzels, like i said, anything. lol. Most everything i give whole, some things are cut or shredded or diced.
