So DH had been bugging me to get a dog since we met (9 years ago). I finally gave in about 1.5 years ago when a coworkers was giving away a rescue dog. DH promised to walk him and clean up after him yada yada yada. I should have known.

Fast forward to now, my carpet is stained with puke and pee from this dang dog. He hardly ever walks him (and I work 50+ hrs a week and nurse full time including several times a night so I am not about to do it). I should have kept my trap shut when my coworker mentioned this dog.

Now, another coworker mentioned that she was giving away 2 lazyboy chairs in mint condition. DH has been bugging me to get a lazy boy chair. I hate them. They just don't match my style. I think they are too old fashioned and clunky for me. But guess what, here they sit in my living room, cramping my style.

My house is already a mess, the carpets ate destroyed and I can't afford to remove them now and my living room has been taken over by these ugly chairs.

I feel so uncomfortable in my own home. It's stressful for me to see such ugly furnishings in my previous cozy and beautiful living room. DH says I am just being a brat.

Aghhhhhhhhh...How can I get rid of these chairs without him noticing?

Oh gosh, that really sucks. I'd probably let the dog run off and say he must have "gotten out", but I despise dogs in the house anyway. Then I suppose you can just cover up puke and pee stains with new area rugs on top of the carpet until you can replace it altogether (prefferably with laminate or tile if you end up keeping the dog!). As far as the chairs go, you're living my nightmare and my DH's dream lol!!! I guess all you can do is find some snazzy accent pillows and a great throw blanket to drape over the arm of one of them. That could help. If all else fails maybe see if you can convince your DH to sell both on craigslist, and with the money earned buy a better looking one from LazyBoy - one of those nice ones that look like a contemporary easy/arm chair but just so happens to lift up into a recliner.

Get a cage for the dog and crate train it, keep it somewhere not carpeted. Keep it on a leash attached to you at all times in the house until it's house trained so it wont go off and pee somewhere. Just a couple ideas. Or just give it to someone:-) Y does it puke all the time? Dogs shouldn't puke that much... I've worked with dogs for years and I too would not be able to stand a dog that messed up my carpet. I just got a Great Dane puppy and her occasional accidents are bothering me enough....

ROFLMBO No advice. Men can be challenging and so can dogs.

My DH also likes Lazboys. It must be a man-thing... Do you know why your dog barfs? Does he scarf down his food too fast and then barf? As for the peeing - that really sucks. You have it really hard having to live w/ that. Sorry. Can you set up an area w/ plastic/ training pad for the dog (they sell those for puppies) so that he can at least go there instead of the carpet? I like the crate idea, too. Or can you give the dog to somebody else?

Hugs to you.

Thanks Ladies.

The dog id house trained. He started peeing on the carpet a few months ago. I don't know why. I think he is upset because I went back to work.

As for the puking, he gets into the garbage (which is now kept in the garage and is a PITA), he scarfs his food too quickly, and occasionally he sneaks into the bathroom and eats the cat litter.

If he was house trained, you might want the vet to check him for UTI. Can check urine for crystals and underlying issues....
