I think the pricing is about right. She is charging $2.25-2.75 a cupcake and I was going to suggest $2 a piece.

So $30 for a dozen cupcakes isn't bad. I think I'm going to need about 60 cupcakes. That's $150...am I crazy, or is that just nutty to spend that much on cupcakes.

I've debated making my own, but I know they'd suck...hard. DH wanted funfetti cupcakes the other day, and I burnt them...so....yeah....what's a mom to do???

Well, honestly that is about how much you would pay for a cake if you had it done professionally. Unless you went to a grocery store. There cupcakes/cakes would run about 30. (24 cupcakes that is).

That's pretty reasonable for custom cupcakes. I tend to do cupcakes if most of the guests are kids and a full cake if there is a good mix of kids/adults coming. I've also been known to get the cheap grocery store cupcakes for the kids and a better, more expensive cake for the adults because I know they will eat it all and not just lick off the frosting, take one bite and throw the rest in the grass

Okay, I might be odd person out here, but there is no way that I could ever justify that. They're pretty, but for $150 you could take a baking and cake decorating class, buy a pastry bag and a few tips and have the knowledge for life.

But I'm totally with Alison regarding the kids taking one lick and throwing it on the grass!

I was going to say $30 but ONLY if I was getting a dozen...if I needed to feed 60 people I'd probably get a costco birthday cake, they are delicious!

I'm making my own. Even with box cakes you can do different things to make them taste so much better. For chocolate cupcakes I use coke instead of water and always add in a pkg of chocolate instant pudding mix. They taste sooo good. With vanilla cupcakes I add buttermilk instead of the water and add a pkg of vanilla instant pudding mix. Frosting is so easy to make and there are tons of decorating videos on youtube.

I'm with Shannon, Hannah and Alison. I've bought a super decadent cake for the grown ups (I only have 3 kids coming to her party) that's costing me a couple hundred and believe me this isn't normal, and I'm getting a flat of supermarket $5 for 6 cupcakes from the grocery store for her to smash and for the kids to enjoy.

There will be mostly adults there. Maybe 5-6 kids max. My Mom swears by these cupcakes, and she said she'll pay for half. That makes me feel a lot better about my decision. Now I just need to choose which ones to get. I'm kinda glad I'm going with cupcakes so I can choose lots of different flavors.

I think if I made the cupcakes on my own, I'd be super stressed out about it, and would most likely screw them up horribly
