I thought I would update you all on the solution I decided on last week regarding my trouble with Kinley sleeping with us/DH not getting sleep/me not being able to get up in the AM because she crawls/rolls off the bed if I get up before her... you know, that whole thing. So, I tried to force her to sleep in the crib one night and I slept on DD1's bed in the same room. She woke up at 10:30, 12:30, 2:30, 3:30... and at the 3:30 feeding I fell asleep with her next to me on the outside edge of the twin bed. DH woke me up at 5AM to say this is not a good solution and put her in the crib. She woke up again at 5:30 and I took her in to bed with me exhausted and totally defeated. So, I did what I had been trying to avoid- rearranged the furniture in my bedroom and put a futon mattress on the floor between our bed and the wall. So far it is great because I can get up in the morning and don't have to worry about her falling off the bed. Unfortunately my back is unhappy with the uncomfortable mattress, but overall things are better... for now. When she sleeps 4-5 hours at a time, I will be in even better shape

I'm glad that you are getting more sleep...even if it isn't an ideal situation right now.

When we were transitioning Claire to her crib, we put a full-sized mattress in her room on the floor next to the crib. At first, when she'd wake in the middle of the night, I'd try to calm her down and put her back in the crib, but if it didn't work, I'd just sleep with her on the mattress. If she did fall off, she only had a few inches to go, so it wasn't a big deal. She gradually woke less and less, and now I hardly ever have to go sleep with her. I hope this happens for you, too!!
