Are you going to have games for the kids to do? I just came from our first, first birthday party. It was honestly pretty boring. They had one game, which was to find a stuffed rabbit in the back yard. It lasted maybe 3 minutes. The rest of the time we just ate snacks, watched the birthday girl open presents, and that's about it. I guess I don't know what to expect because but surely there must be more fun things to do than that, right? My mom wants us to hire a clown or rent one of those things you bounce on, but I keep reminding her that these kids are 1 and not 5.

I don't think any kids are coming to our party, just adults lol. So its just going to be food and talking.

I don't even want to open presents in front of everyone. Is that rude not to? I just feel weird doing it for some reason.

It depends on the age group of your guests, you can't expect babies to participate in anything really but if there are older kids you could organise some games and activities. For Noah's first birthday we set up a sandpit, wading pool and water play activities but no games or anything. Luca's birthday will be combined with Noah's third birthday so we're hiring a jumping castle.

Eva is going to be the only child. I want to do at least one kids game for the adults to do cause I think it would be fun.

No games here. I dont do games until the "birthday girl" can participate so at age 2 we will. For us it's just a fun get together for adults, and the kids usually run off and play while the adults chat and laugh. We do presents and then will do the big cake scene.

I'm planning on a kiddie pool and pinata. There will be one little 18 month old boy and two 6 yr old girls, and the birthday girl

I guess ours was pretty boring too - We only had Maggie and one other child and like 16 adults. So, we did lots of food, drink and chatting. presents, cake and for kids entertainment, I brought up Maggie's ball pit and bought a cheap cardboard ring toss game. Really, they were more interested in the toys she got for her birthday than anything else. They played with the ball pit a bit, but I'm glad I didn't spend a lot on the ring toss game.

Totally depends on age. Right now, these parties are more for us than they are for the kids. Maggie enjoyed it so much, but we were beat and pretty tired by the end of the day. They're just thrilled to have the attention. Do a party you will enjoy and make sure that if you have lots of kids, they've got something to play with - if they're older, the wading pool or the bouncy castle is a great investment. If they're all around the same age as Juliana, just let them be - you can just use the toys Juliana already has.

All the games/activities I'm doing are for the older kids (Ethan's age & a bit older) because Avery is one of the younger kiddos in our circle of friends. We're having it at our neighborhood Clubhouse & I'm going to bring an assortment of toys for the younger ones & some arts/crafts for the older ones.

Honestly, 1st b-day parties are more for the parents. So do something you will enjoy if all the LOs are Juliana's age. However, if there are going to be toddlers, you might want to plan something because bored toddlers are bad toddlers (in my experience). Hahahaha

No games planned either over here. I think we will have a kiddie pool and maybe a sand table out and a ball pit. Ours is also a get together with mostly adults...cookout and beer type of thing.

All of my closest friends all have older kids so we will have a gigantic inflatable water slide, sack races, not sure of the name but bottles filled with colorful sand and they will get to decorate a plastic bucket to hold the candy we shoot out of the cannon. Then two 6' subs and pasta salad for dinner and cupcakes and ice cream cups. I want it to be memorable for everyone.

My husband is going to make a "playhouse" out of those big appliance boxes for the kids to play in. We were going to rent a bounce house but there are only going to be 4 kids that would be able to use it, so we figured it would be a waste. Besides the party will probably only be 2 hours so that should be enough time to eat, do cake, and open presents, and have people get their candy from the candy buffet
