I feel so stupid! I was reading with DD after school today and Wyatt was puttering around the main floor. I usually just let him explore, it's pretty baby-proofed. I could still here him, but granted it was quieter, so I figured he was behind the island in the kitchen or playing with the water cooler (his new favourite thing). So when we finished the book, I went to see what kind of mischief he was getting into. He was outside! I forgot that I had opened the patio door and just closed the screen door. He opened it and went outside onto the deck. No wonder I couldn't hear him too well.

So the next time you hear about young children wandering the streets at 2 am, it could very well be mine!

LOL!!! Glad he's ok. Before Caleb was born his room was our office. I was sitting at the computer...I looked up out the window just in time to see a little girl run across the front yard. Somehow Grace (who I thought was taking a nap) managed to get out of her gated room...pass the room I was in...unlock the front door and get outside. LOL

What a little rip. LOL...I'm glad he's ok, and he didn't discover the stairs on the deck. Must have given his poor mommy a real thrill!

Maggie's headed for the door a few times when DH is out back grilling. We have a patio, so there's immediately a step down from the door way and a step down again to the patio stones. I just know I'm gonna get caught one day and she's going to be tumbling head first.

OMG Andi and Heather! Both of those stories would scare the crap outta me!!! Actually, they did! lol. Clever little bums. They make great stories b/c everything turned out ok.

We too have a few cement steps down to our patio stones, and that would be a terribly damaging fall! My stomach turns just thinking about it.

Luckily the door is level with the deck and there are two steps down to a patio. Fortunately he stayed on the deck. He's also getting pretty good at turning around to go down steps backwards.

But yeah, I was in complete shock to see my little guy outside by himself. He keeps me on my toes!

Oh wow how scary. Noah figured out how to slide open our screen door today too and I caught him just in time so he didn't fall out.

Wow scary. My 4 y/o has done that before. We had to put a chain lock on the back door and those kiddie knobs on the other doors because he kept going outside.

So glad he is ok.

We have a special lock on our front screen door that neither girl can reach. Kaitlyn used to open the back door when she was 2-3 but we have a fenced in (Privacy fence) with a locked gate. I do not allow her to go out with out me and she has learned that as she got older that she has to have a parent outside.

Super scary!

Ok...here is mine (forgot if I shared...happened a few months ago). One time when we had people over for dinner, there were literally 4 adults standing in the kitchen. The sliding door is right next to the kitchen. All of a sudden, someone yells..."Emmett's outside!". He had climbed out the dog door that was in the sliding door!!!!!! (The dog door is for a big dog so it's even off the ground...like you have to get over this big lip of glass that is about a foot high. And the door on it is fairly heavy.) Here's the really bad part...our porch is 1 story high off of our yard!!! He was just cruising along the other side of the glass!! I totally freaked out and we haven't had a dog door since.

We had to put a sliding lock at the top of our front door at our old place. Samantha was playing and i was doing dishes & heard the front door close. She was standing right outside! It freaked me out bc she could maybe do that at night & be lost.
