Back in April, my husband got a reckless driving ticket . We thought court was the 16th of June, so he waited until the 15th to drive to southern VA to go to court. Well, right before he left he looked at his ticket.. court had been that day. UGH. You ladies in chat remember me stressing about this. Well it ended up being that they tried him in his absence, a 500 dollar fine and 81 dollars in court costs. Not too bad considering how bad it could have been.. no bench warrant, nothing.
Well today we got a letter in the mail. He was caught by a speed camera going 68 in a 55 construction zone. Another ticket. 40 bucks this time.
I'm going to freaking kill him. Seriously.

OMG, that's awful. It would have been funnier if he had gotten that ticket on the way to the courthouse to defend himself for the other one. I'd be pretty livid, too.

I'd be pretty upset too. We don't have a lot of money to work with with only me working, and we are on a strict budget so it would totally throw it out of whack. I will help you strangle him!

I'm sorry, I know the feeling! I've had 8 tickets in the past 8 years myself Guess you just gotta look at the silver lining - no warrants, and hey, $40 for going 13 over in a construction zone is not bad AT ALL (bet there weren't any workers present, eh?? ) Still, I know how hard it is to be on a budget, we're borrowing money from family right now until I can find a job, so those unexpected expenses that can't be put off can REALLY throw things for a loop. Hope he chills out with the driving, for YOUR sake!

Ugh I would be totally pissed too thats totally uncalled for! My dh drives for a living as a salesman and must have a perfect driving record, so he is super cautious driver. Now, in his youth, we wont even discuss his "reckless +" driving record.

Oh man, I'd be ticked off too. Dh has gotten several tickets, thankfully none in the last three years, but it was crazy trying to pay them. Plus the effects it has on your car insurance. I do agree $40 for a speeding ticket in a work zone is cheap, I don't PA laws about it but I know in MI doesn't matter if workers are present or now all traffic tickets are doubled.

Ug!how frustrating! Do they do anything to him at work? My DH (also air force) gets in pretty serious trouble for tickets. They can even take away your security clearance.

Luckily before all this he only had 1 ticket. He got counselled for the reckless and that's it. I dunno what will happen about the new one, likely a counselling again. I've told him that if he gets in trouble for this at work, I will be driving him everywhere. Yeah, I can't get on the compound where he works, but I can drop him off at the visitors center, which is about a 1/2 mile to his office. Everyday. lol

I'm willing to bet that $40 one came from one of those stinkin' cameras on 95... I got one around Baltimore driving up to my parents' house when Avery was teeny tiny. My hubby says they are only $40 because those speed cameras are WILDLY inaccurate (if they were any more, people might fight them). They can't assign points because it could've been anyone driving.
Anyway... I wouldn't be a happy camper either. Tell him to slow down, esp in CA. I hear California State Troopers have no sense of humor.

It was 295, right by 195. We're lucky it wasn't an actual cop which would have been much worse.
He is gonna slow down though. I made sure of it, lol
