OMG I'm sorry you had to go through that, Im so glad that your mom got out of that awful, awful relationship! I bet you and your mom are really close seeing it was just the two of you. That is so sad about your brother, but I bet you see him in your neice and nephew everyday. Kids have a very very hard time when they lose a parent due to a sudden death. I have a cousin who was 30 who died of a massive heart attack and left 3 children (13, 8 and 6) it has been very difficult helping raise them. I'm glad they have you and your mom. How much older are you than your niece and nephew, seeing that you and your brother were 12 years apart? Cute pics!

so your niece and nephew are still with your mom? She sounds like a great strong lady who got out of a bad situation. Good for her..so many stay and give "second chances". I love that she got out when your father turned on you.
Sorry to hear about your brother. A very good friend of mine had her brother taken by suicide almost 2 years ago now (he was only 22). It has devastated the family.

I am so glad your mother got herself and you out of that situation. You sound like life got so much better after that! I am terribley sorry about your brother. That is so sad. I cannot even imagine.

Do you have any contact with your dad?
Thats horrible about your brother. I really wasnt expecting to read that. He must have been having a really, really bad time.
Where is your nieces/nephews mum? (his ex)

Wow Shannon, sounds like you've had some pretty rough things to deal with, but it's good that your mom was always there for you. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose your brother, I'm so sorry. On the other hand, I think that's pretty awesome that you and Jason have been together for so long. You and I are pretty much the same age, and when I was 15, I would have sworn up and down that the guy I was dating at that time was the guy I was going to marry, but that never happened lol That's so sweet that he kept all those letters too!

Wow. You have gone through so much in life and seem to be in such a great place now. It is quite amazing that you're still with your high school sweetheart! You definitely beat the odds. Your Mom sounds like a strong lady who took the right steps for her children. I can only imagine what it is like for your whole family given the loss of your brother. It may be that your Mom is trying to compensate for their loss by giving into them That's totally understandable.

I'm very sorry to hear about your brother, that just breaks my heart...especially for his kids. What a wonderful story for you and your mom to step up.
Also, it's crazy you guys have been together 10 years!! And high school sweet hearts too. Did DH want to be a firefighter even in high school?
Do you ever want to do more school? Or go back to working outside the home?

Wow Shannon, I cannot believe how much hurt you have been through and are still so strong and positive! I am so sorry about your brother, that must have been awful.
Your love story is similar to mine, congrats on making it to 10 years!!

Shannon I agree, you're so young. LOL I graduated in 1997. LOL
I'm sorry to hear about your brother. My nest friend commited suicide in 2002. I talked to him on the phone right before he killed himself...he never let on that anything was wrong. It's a heart breaking way to lose someone.
I sounds like your mother is a very strong woman.
I also love your love story. How nice that you and your DH share so much of your past.
